Oz National 2008 clips on YouTube

Someone going by the login, cyrces, has put a couple of 5-minute compilation clips from the 2008 Australian National Folk Festival up on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFkXF2DwpdU
and
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AJtg-g7kdE

Peggy Seeger, Bob Fox, Rory McLeod, Danny Spooner, Dave de Hugard, Bob & Marg Fagan, Enda Kenny and many others appear.

Near the beginning of the 1st clip there's about 15 seconds of my daughter and me singing Tell It On The Mountain, and about 3 minutes into the second clip there's 30 seconds of my daughter's klezmer band, Di Khupe Heybners, playing a waltz.

If the blue clickies don't work, you can try searching YouTube for Australian National Folk Festival and/or search for cyrces.

I had great fun spotting everyone - Danny Spooner singing 'Bring out the Banners' with with Margaret Walters, Bob & Margaret Fagan, Martin Doherty singing "Joe Hill", Enda Kenny singing "Sorry Little Man" with Lindsay Martin on fiddle, Bob Mcinnes on fiddle with a poet (Geoffrey Graham???) Alex Hood, Dave de Hugard, Kate Delaney & a cast of thousands from Danny Watson's epic concert, Gerry & Sarah, Sarah & her band, buskers, & Morris dancers.

Thanks for the links, Gerry, it's very good overview of the Festival.

hi all, I was wondering about the fiddle tune (Bob McInnes?) - I know I've heard it on the soundtrack to something, a film or TV doco, it is an absolutely stunning piece of music, does anyone know who wrote it or what film it's from?
Cheers,
Quokka

Bob McGuinness is playing Boulavogue, or Youghal Harbour, or Moreton Bay - depending on what song you know it as.

Everyone's having a good time, that's the main thing. Can't help thinking it looks like an old folks' outing, though.

The old folks were well-represented at the festival, and a large chunk of one of the videos was shot at a concert commemorating the 30th or 40th anniversary of some folkie event or other (sorry to be so vague) where they brought back performers from the original do. But kids & young adults are also thick on the ground at the festival, on stage and off.
