29 May 08 - 08:46 AM (#2351908) Subject: RE: BS: What Happened? From: Bee-dubya-ell Will it sell, or is it just old news? It will sell like hotcakes for a very brief period, and quickly die off. You'll be able to pick up a copy from the remainder bin in a few weeks for $2.49. It will do nothing to convince anyone that the Bush administration is a bunch of liars. Most of us already realize that, and the handful of Bush loyalists left are not going to have their minds changed by anything short of a pronouncement by God Himself. How will this book effect the election? Not much. Bush isn't running. McCain will say that even if the war was started on the basis of a lie, abandoning it would do more harm than good. Will the dirty tricks dept. trash McLellan like they did others who spoke out against them? Is the Pope German? |

From: Donuel The Bush attack monkeys are saying that Mc Clellan's book will be forgotten in one week (or right after his last book tour interview) Its one of 30 similar books by ex Bush team members and really not as good as the fired Secretary of Treasury book on the evils of Imperial Bushism. |

From: Amos "with attacks by current and former Bush administration officials, the one time White House spokesman defended his decision to attack his old boss and his colleagues in the White House, where loyalty to the president was considered a prime qualification for employment. "I have a higher loyalty," he told NBC's "Today Show." "A loyalty to the truth and values that I was raised on." Even political insiders were unaware that McClellan's White House memoir, "What Happened, " was in the works until news about it broke Wednesday morning. Nevertheless, by this morning it had shot to the top of Amazon.com's best-seller list. The controversial tome accuses the Bush administration of being "evasive" and "shading the truth" on a range of issues including the administration's motivations for going to war in Iraq. He said administration officials exaggerated the threat posed by Saddam Hussein and ignored intelligence that portrayed a different picture. ..."(ABC News) |

29 May 08 - 01:12 PM (#2352150) Subject: RE: BS: What Happened? From: PoppaGator McClellan's "loyalty to a higher truth" took a while to develop. I'm glad he finally came around to sanity, but (like several others above) I feel that he's "preaching to the choir" ~ among people who actually read books, and may even buy them, the lies and self-deceptions of Bush and his cronies is old news. And those diehards who still stand by Bush & Co., who defend the Iraq War as a good idea, etc., etc., aren't going to be swayed by this guy's writing. They've drunk way too much neocon kool-aid to ever perceive, let along admit, even the most obvious truth. |
