Subject: Obit: Obituary of Jimmy Allen
From: GUEST,Alan Cox - Visitor

It is with great sadness that I report the death of James (Jimmy) Allen on 31st May 2008 at the age of 95 years.
Visitors to Holmfirth Folk Festival 1980-2004 may remember Jimmy as the extremely enthusiastic
white haired gentleman who gave an annual presentation of slides of the Holme Valley & surrounding districts.
I first met Jimmy in the early 1970's whilst working at David Brown Tractors. After his retirement he and his late wife Audrey took great pleasure in their life long passion, walking the hills of Yorkshire, Scotland and the Lake district. Jimmy felt so strongly about access to the countryside he took part in the mass trespass of Kinder Scout, Derbyshire on 24th April 1932.
Jimmy was an active member of Colne Valley Museum, Golcar, Huddersfield and of the Holmfirth labour Party.
Our thoughts, at this sad time, go to his daughters Judith and Margaret.
The funeral will be held at Fixby Crematorium on 9th June at 2.30pm.
