music: is my first love, what's yours?

" Music was my first love
And it will be my last
Music of the future
And music of the past

To live without my music
Would be impossible to do
In this world of troubles
My music pulls me through "

Sal
(and yes of course I know it's John Miles)

Runs a pretty close second to chocolate I'm afraid....

'when you're down, the best way up is chocolate!'

Thanks Moira.

Yes, music first particulary song, then sleeping. Too much chocolate gives me heartburn.

Music is my first(ish) love.

But if it's by John Miles, inevitably I'm going to cheat on it.

My first love, I suppose, was my Mom, but I reckon that doesn't count.

Outside that, my first love has always beeen goils. My Martin comes second. Among goils there is none quite as well-loved as Best Beloved Wife, whom after thiorty years I am still getting to know.

Music, well, it is like breath, but like breath it gets taken for granted, it is so natural a part of my daily mind.

I am also inordinately fond of my car.

Life, love - define it as you will, then music. I yield to Maslow's heirarchy of needs, at least in part.

You all have very different 'loves' which is wonderful.

When I wake in the morning I always have some song or tune on a loop that stays with me most of the day.

If I want to learn a new song, if i listen to it first thing before even chatting to anyone, it sticks very quickly. I really can't imagine not having songs, music, in my life. I am sure I would die inside.

Maybe i'm a bit odd!

Not at all, Sal. I think many of us breath on the interior songs in our minds.

Hate to always be plugging my own Web site, but my first love these days is GEST Songs of Newfoundland and Labrador ... My true love calls it an obsession and not love. She's right, of course. :-)

If there's anything odd about needing music and songs in our lives then there are, indeed, multitudes of odd people, myself included.I frequently hear songs in my head and break out into song quite often.I love recalling old songs that I used to sing in bygone days.I believe that music is a true soother of the soul. Many a worry can be blown away by a well-loved tune.

Playing fiddle tunes on the harmonica. Clawhammer banjo. Getting in my car and driving down back roads that I haven't been down before with no map and no set destination. Thanks to greedy oil companies, that isn't happening these days. Eating in diners.
