Strange one, this.
The Holiday Inn, Brayford Wharfe, LINCOLN (UK!)
are putting on Sunday 'tea-time' concerts all summer.
Running from 5pm to 6pm only!

Different types of music each month - this month - folk!
So...
They've booked me, Duncan McFarlane and m'band's fiddle player, Anne Brivonese
to play 5 till 6pm this coming Sunday, the 29th June 08

Tiffin, anyone?

Now if I could get my kids and missus to go to the cinemea next door around that time, there might just be the possibility I could come along.
Am it free loik to get in our kid, or be there a door price?

Whatever, I'll be there, hopefully recovering from my house move.
(Or drowning my sorrows!).

Are village halls and folk clubs not good enough for Duncan and Anne now ?

The Holiday Inn - oooh I say :-) Maybe you could stay there for the night Deirdre and live the life of luxury. :-)

Take me down to Brayford Wharf
Take me down, roll me down
Take me down to Brayford Wharf
And roll me down the hill

When we get to Brayford Wharf
Push a pint of ale my way….
When we've had a pint or two....
I would like another from you....

Looks like I won't be needing a room at the Holiday Inn - phew.
(Fingers crossed for fine weather and kind solicitors on Friday).

Well if you are going to snore, can you at least keep in rhythm with Duncan's songs please :-)

Mornin' come they found 'em there rally round, come listen to me
They'd sunk right in, were lost for air, all in a bed of straw
Now high on a wall is found rally round, come listen to me
Two skulls of stone starin' down, look for a bed of straw

I was born and bred in Lincoln and raised most honestly
Then I became a roving lad it proved my destiny
Son, oh son, what have you done – you're bound for Brayford Wharf

Is a concert or background music in the restaurant?
If it is a concert, how much to get in?

It won't be background music as Duncan will have his PA setup
Its in the bar and its free.
They do a carvery until 4 oclock, so no point in turning up too early.
Music 5 to 6pm

I beleive that something is going on, on the Barge which is in front of the Holiday inn, from liunchtime until 4pm. I know Steve jackson is on there, but don't know more than that.

It was an excellent way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Pity there isn't much of a folk community in Lincoln!

There is, but they only come out for 'The 'A' List'!
If you were a star in the 60's and 70's the old hippies may come and listen for nostalgic reasons, or if you have a name beginning with, e.g., 'Vin', 'Jez' or 'Martin' they'll come because they know you're still a star. But hugely talented yet comparatively unknown artistes are pretty much ignored - look at the poor attendances in recent years for Eileen McGann (stunning singer), Marie Little, Bill Caddick et al ad infinitum.
That's how it looks to me.

It was a brill way to spend a rainy afternoon - and then Duncan sang the sun out!.

Nice to unwind after the flitting.
