Thought for the day- May 29

Well, I am assuming PeterT has flown the coop for a week as threatened. I shall try to live up to his standards! here goes:

A dog starv'd at his master's gate
Predicts the ruin of the State
A horse misus'd upon the road
Calls to Heaven for human blood.
Each outcry of the hunted hare
A fibre from the brain does tear,
A skylark wounded in the wing,
A cherubim does cease to sing.

On 29th May 1953 Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tensing reached the peak of mount Everest with the help of 12 other climbers, 40 sherpa guides and 700 porters

Be nice to your kids. They'll choose your nursing home.

Avenge yourself, live long enough to be a problem to your kids!

Hey Kat! Ya gotta have a firm hand with these thoughts of the day, or everyone will have one. When Peter T. comes back he'll find "thought anarchy"!
Although, Cat-a-soda's got a good point!

Hi, Rick, I know!!! Arrggghhh, I posted at midnight Mudcat time, then I thought everybody was boycotting it because it was me! Then when they DID post, it was totally off subject of my thought! Where did I go wrong???Is it a gender thing? There being more men, is this a (gasp) patriarchal site where women aren't given validity??? Oh, woe is me, (she says, gently waving a hankie full of laudanum, for the "vapors", ya know)!

In response to Cat-a-soda: My kids better be nice to me and never think of a nursing home because I shall come back to haunt them mercilessly if they do!

Anarchy rules???

Kat, I'm with you on that thought, not that I'm strong enough to live by it: I hear the earth shriek when I uproot a dandelion, I gently remove mayflies from the tub before I take a shower, I wince when I accidentally step on a snail on a rainy evening walk with my dogs--but both they and I eat meat, although I sometimes remember to apologize to the spirit of the animal whose flesh I eat.
