BS: Who's familar with Memphis TN?

Hi gang. I'm working on a song where the main character is arrested for prostitution in Memphis. Can you tell me some street names (or possibly neighbourhood names) known for prostitution?

Thanks, Marion

Marion, here's a story that might start you off, it even gives the name of the street the events took place on.

Actually, the rougher area is West Memphis, Arkansas which is across the Mississippi from Memphis...

But, Marion, if you really want the real down and dirty on Memphis you march yerself over to "tweedsblues.net" and introduce yerself, tell 'um that I sent ya' and pose the question there... Them folks know Memphis like the back of their hands... Mempho (dennis) and Johnny Lowebow (john lowe) live there full time and everyone else at tweeds, including myself, have been there at least a few times for WC Handy awards or IBC (International Blues Challenge)....

And good to hear from ya'...

If your long distance minutes are cheap you might call the reference librarian at the main public library in Memphis. They are used to getting calls about such 'local color' from distant writers.

Thanks for the leads, all. Lamar has a nice musical sound to it and might fit nicely into the song. The story that I'm writing about is here.

I've only visited there for a couple of days but you have to include November 6th Street - It's such an odd name:-)

Cheers
