Killing Me Softly (with Kung Fu)

I heard he was a killer, he didn't look so tough
So I picked him out and I started to do my stuff
I said some words about his boyfriend as we passed in the parking lot

Now he's
Strumming my face with his fingers, changing my nose with his foot
Killing me softly with Kung Fu, knocking my block off with Kung Fu
Changing my outlook with his shoe
Killing me softly with Kung Fu

I couldn't keep from laughing as he made funny motions in the air
But then he walked right through me as if I wasn't there
I hid behind the lamppost, then he broke it right in two

Now he's
Strumming my face with his fingers, changing my nose with his foot
Killing me softly with Kung Fu, knocking my block off with Kung Fu
Changing my profile with his shoe
Killing me softly with Kung Fu

I went to get my crowbar to put a dent in his mind
But someone said: "You can't do that, he's only three foot nine"
But then he ate my Toyota, I thought I'd better apologize

But he's
Strumming my face with his fingers, changing my nose with his foot
Killing me softly with Kung Fu, knocking my block off with Kung Fu
Changing my sex life with his shoe
Killing me softly with Kung Fu

Now that the words are up there nothing else for me to add to this thread except it's so nice to hear from you again Sylvia. 3 times in the past 3 years, within 3 decades. I'm just gonna have to get out to the west coast seeing as you don't make it east nearly enough.
Good luck & all my best
Barry

Hey Jon
Sylvia moved to SanFrancisco before I knew her & that's going back to 79', weither she ccame to SF from San Diego before that, I'll let her answer but if you don't know her or haven't heard her Jon you'll love her when you do & her personality matches her music to boot.
Hope you're drying out heard you've had a couple of sprinkles out your way. Give a hello to Rika

Holycow. I hadn't thought of this for what seems like aeons and glacial ages and, well, a very very long time. I was always sorta sad Michael Spiro never kept pushing with his musical career. "Music Sex And Cookies" was a great bit o' fun, too. The last I heard, he's working with kids at the Jewish Community Center here, particularly their camp. I hope they're enjoying his great good humor. His nostalgic song about singing at camp, based on "Michael Row the boat Ashore," is another gem.

Thanks for reminding me - now I've got to search and see what recordings*I* might have tucked away of him.

Here is an interesting parody of Utah's song I used to pull out every once in a while..

Touch me when I'm bowling,
Touch me when I'm snow mobiling,
When I'm cleaning the cat litter,
Surprise me with your hands,
And lightly,
With kung fu,
Touch me.

Joanne (CupOfTea):

FYI, I am alive and well and still living in the Cleveland area. I haven't performed in a long time, but just recently had my first album re-released in Asia, and have remastered all my music for sale online (www.michaelspiro.net). I haven't worked at the JCC since 1999 -- but still have fond memories of those summer camp days, as well as my many years on the road as a troubadour. Nowadays I'm working as a technical recruiter, raising 4 kids, 2 of whom are at Oberlin College. Thanks for the kind words!

I have a recording of Michael Gulezian (spelling?) doing this song live in 1999 or 2000. Who wrote this originally? He tells the story as if it was his idea.
