Folk Clubs in North Wales

I am spending 2 nights next week (Wed 16th/Thurs 17th) at Kinmel Park (between Wrexham & Colwyn Bay) - what clubs are there in reasonable reach ? I don't mind a bit of a drive; happy to listen if I can't get to sing.

Ruthin is on a Thurs night, I think. Can't think of any others on those two days. Take a look at the trac site and see if anything suits.

Folkwales Listings (www.folkwales.org.uk) has a long list of clubs and sessions within reach of Kinmel Park. Click on Listings, or Regular Events for sessions or clubs which do not have a guest. Always remember: check with clubs or sessions to see if they're still running.

The Rhoslan in Llanduno at least used to have a mixed session on a Wednesday.

There used to be one at the Malt Loaf in Conwy on Monday nights...Open mic/session mix I believe. They, also have professionals the other nights of the week. Check w/t the club. I was on a cycling tour and was fortunate enough to have my mandolin w/me. They let me do 2 songs and I borrowed someone's guitar for the 2nd(I hadn't been playing mando for very long and only knew one song on it). Then I was offered a ride back to my hostel by a brilliant musicican named Alexander. Played accordian and flute. North Wales has some of the best local...and I mean 'world class good' musicians of anywhere I've been in my travels. There was one at a place in Bangor called the Tap and Spile on Tuesdays, but it may have moved as the place was purchased by different owners.
