Her best stuff was probably done in the 30s and 40s as in "Gone With the Wind" and "The Jolson Story". Farewell dear lady. Say "Hello" to the real Jolson. |

Her autobiog, which had some title like Scarlett O'Hara's Other Sister or something, was a refreshingly down-to-earth and honest read, perhaps because though she was successful, she never became mega-hyper-famous, so her career didn't screw her head up. She sounds like someone it would have been fun to sit down and have a drink and a chat with - and like she might have actually allowed you to, star or not. R.I.P. |
