18 Jul 08 - 01:14 PM (#2392233) Subject: Sing with CMR at Sidmouth and Whitby From: Saro Craig Morgan Robson have a new show for Sidmouth and Whitby, and the main particpants will be you if you want to take part! It is called "The Way Through the Woods" and is (surprise surprise) a woodland themes show involving lots of great songs in harmony, plus some stories, poems etc. We'll be teach the songs at a series of morning workshops and there'll be separate sessions to allocate and run through the "spoken word" parts. There'll be a performance on the Friday of each week. Please come and join us! For me details, see the working programmes for both events... Saro |

(But no, I see it's in the Manor Pavilion, 11.30-1, so I hope some people will come and warm up in the Faulkner bar singaround first!) Kitty |

19 Jul 08 - 10:19 AM (#2392838) Subject: RE: Sing with CMR at Sidmouth and Whitby From: Northerner That sounds really interesting. Is the storytelling oral? There's just so much that's really good to do at Whitby. I was at a whistle workshop recently at another festival so I think I'll try and build on that and go to the whistle workshops at Whitby. Can't make your workshops as I'm too busy at those times with my own performances. Good luck with them though. Diane Taylor |
19 Jul 08 - 01:16 PM (#2392949) Subject: RE: Sing with CMR at Sidmouth and Whitby From: Saro We'll have stories etc printed out so people who want to particpate but who don't sing can still perform. Saro |

12 Aug 08 - 01:27 PM (#2411686) Subject: RE: Sing with CMR at Sidmouth and Whitby From: Saro Moira's brother is doing a little better, but we'll still be a duo for Whitby and Shrewsbury. Everyone seemed to be very happy with The Way Through The Woods workshops and show, despite panicking about not learning the songs in time, and Carolyn and I trying to be 1.5 people each! In fact all the cast, singers and readers, were magnificent, and I have the recording to prove it. Please come and join in the Northern "Premiere performance" at Whitby if you can. Saro |

25 Aug 08 - 02:46 AM (#2421602) Subject: RE: Sing with CMR at Sidmouth and Whitby From: Mo the caller I had two thoughts as I listened to you. 1. Did you have to redo all your arrangements and learn new parts? 2. Do you ever regret giving away all your best tunes in workshops so that people want to join in when you are singing the same thing on stage? 3. (Hardly neccessary to mention) Glad I managed to fit you in as well as all the sessions and dancing. Sorry Moira wasn't with you - best wishes to her. |
25 Aug 08 - 03:30 PM (#2421935) Subject: RE: Sing with CMR at Sidmouth and Whitby From: Saro Hi Mo, 1. No, we used the same arrangements, I'd done them for three voices anyway. 2. Not at all, we love people to join in, though prefer it if they stick to the choruses!! 3. Thank you!!! Just heard from Moira, her brother i doing a little bit better, but still very very fragile. 26 Aug 08 - 06:16 AM (#2422284) Subject: RE: Sing with CMR at Sidmouth and Whitby From: Mo the caller I was listening in a Late Night Concert in the Met. That's what set me wondering about the arrangements, there seemed to be only 2 on stage. |
26 Aug 08 - 08:22 AM (#2422350) Subject: RE: Sing with CMR at Sidmouth and Whitby From: Saro Sorry Mo, thought you meant the workshop arrangements. Well, we did rearrange things a bit on stage (well, actually, before we went on stage) so it took a bit of extra work, but nothing too drastic. It just meant there were a few songs we couldn't do. Hope we didn't seem to schizophrenic, trying to be one and a half people each!! Saro |
