Obit. of our Montana NPR arts and humanities producer Leni Holliman.
She passed away from cancer July 17, '08.
Leni's page on the yellowstone public radio site links to audio of her interview of Utah Phillips and Mark Ross (Butte native folk singer and mudcatter).
The page is at this blue clicky.

She was good. I've not heard her work before. Glad I got in here at the last.

Great show with two fine men!

Thank you for posting this link, Alice!

I think the interview should be required listening for some folks. Especially those who cannot make up their mind what folk music actually is!

Two fine singers and a very good interviewer.

Best wishes,

Peter

Mark, had to sing along on the "tired of being civilized, so look for me in Butte". I work in Butte from mid August to end of November, and I've been having dreams anticipating that time there, walking up and down the hill, burgers at the M&M.

Thanks so much, Alice, for posting this link. As someone said, it's hard to listen to. Bruce U. Utah Philipps was an extraordinary songwriter and story-teller who taught us what "folk" music is all about. So sorry about Lenni's passing.

No apologies, though New York is a good place to be far away from.
I did live in Montana for 23 years, half of those in Butte.
