It starts, "Playing the drums for a rock band requires the stamina of a Premiership footballer, research suggests." |

I know quite well how physically demanding the job can be. Of course, the aerobic-exercise factor, the need for physical strength and endurance, etc., etc., is pretty much the same for any drummer who's working regularly, regardless of whether he's any good at all or not... |

There was a troupe of these folks playing one afternoon near the flag pavilion at one of the Northwest Folklife Festivals a few years back. They really work up a sweat. And you don't just hear them, you feel them! At least 4.5 on the Richter Scale. CLICKY. Don Firth |

23 Jul 08 - 10:55 PM (#2396500) Subject: RE: Drummers are top athletes From: Mooh Having played bass in a rocking R'n'B rhythm section with a couple of drummers who have music degrees and lots of experience, I've seen too many sweaty load outs. Many times we had both of these guys at the same time, one on kit, the other on various hand drums. Great sound, especially with a horn section. There's good reason for these guys to wear shorts and muscle shirts, regardless of band dress codes, they're cooking all night long. Peace, Mooh. |
