Warning . . . Proud Mum alert . . . .

My son Tom was on BBC's University Challenge on Monday 21st with the team from York University.

Too late to see it live, but it is on iPlayer for the rest of the week:

They won the first round so will be on again in the future.

I can also be seen in the audience at the beginning of the show :0)

Is this like a quiz program for students? We have a local one for High School teams.(I can't view the video...UK only))
Sounds like quite an honor! Does he have a special area of expertise?

Congratulations!

Universiy Challenge is the UK version of 'College Bowl' in the US. No doubt there's an Oz version, etc etc.

I won't be naughty and mention the fact that he didn't get the music question right....
Well Done, N., must be the genes!

Thanks for not mentioning that, Rog...

I'm happy that he got the Lou Reed question right, if not the Boccherini- although I think his tutors might not agree :0)

Shame you can't receive this in the US, Bill- I thought it would be available to all. Tom has just graduated in music and is staying on to do his Masters- hence Roger's comment.

We're all off to Warwick so see you there, Hazzel!

why I can't view video

So many complications when companies seek to 'protect' thenselves.

Bill, it's not about protecting themselves but (usually) the rights of programme makers, performers etc. The BBC web presence is certainly the biggest in Europe and probably in the world (which raises some questions in the UK about its remit), but so far the Beeb has baulked at paying out for worldwide on-demand rights. There would also be additional bandwith costs etc.

Good one, Tom! I've just got back from watching gypsy trumpet bands in Bosnia in time for Warwick, so see you there.....
