This is really worth a thread of its own, don't you think?

Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppets vs the Daleks!

My pleasure. ;-) It's about time the Daleks faced some real opposition.

Stealing someone else's link posted here & taking credit for it?

Bad form.

Who's taking credit for it? The people who made it are the ones who get the credit. I'm just giving it further exposure on its own thread because it deserves that, don't you think? I was afraid some appreciative people here might miss it otherwise.

Now, if it's a scandal you're looking for...go work for the one of the tabloids. And if it's an Internet controversy you're looking for, don't hesitate, go straight to the Mudcat political threads! ;-D

The puppet theatre shows great potential for being very amusing, but the speaker needs to slow down. I can only understand half of what he says, and when there is background sound, I can't understand anything.

(I am more experienced at most people at understanding the various dialects of English.)

Nonetheless, thanks for link, Little Hawk. I urge catters to see what it's all about. The whacky humor is delightful.

I'd never even heard of a Dalek before...

You haven't heard of the Daleks before??????????????? Good lord.

How did you ever miss out on Doctor Who? Well, if you were familiar with Doctor Who and the Daleks it would have added quite a bit of humour to that scene.

I agree that the sock puppets are a bit hard to understand at times.

Well, of course they're hard to understand: they're Scottish! :-)

I love the Left-Hand Puppet's confusion about the spelling of "Dalek" ("Darlek" -- because it's pronounced that way! Hee hee hee)

Haven't watced them all yet but my favorite so far is the SFSPT version of A Christmas Carol: Part 1 and Part 2

...closely followed by their "Tough Gig"

Wish they/he would take a world tour -- or at least come to the US!

For Leeneia:

Daleks Through the Ages

typical Dalek behaviour

Daleks the supreme being? Cats beg to differ

Dalek no match for Din-Din

Dr. Who - is that the guy with scarf & the phone booth or was it the rock band? No, the rock band was Dr. Hook.

I don't have a TV. TV and movies really bother me - give me something like motion sickness. I did watch an episode of Dr. Who at my uncle's once.

However, I know that everybody is supposed to know and love Dr. Who, so when people talk about the show, I just assume (in the words of Emma Lathen, the author of the John Putnam Thatcher mysteries) 'the look of pleased expectancy which is the feminine equivalent of the poker face.'

After visiting the puppet theatre, I watched the video with the Dalek and the cats. I gather than a Dalek is an evil being like a robot.

Thanks for the other links, Sharon. I'll check them out.

The corporate world has emasculated and domesticated the Dalek to produce the robot vacuum cleaner. Sad, in a way.

To get back to the first topic, I agree that the puppets talk too fast.

The new generations of televisions should remedy your visual problem with the old CRT (cathode ray tube) televisions. Make haste to a department store for a big one, and work on your remedial Dr. Who viewing. If you get Netflix you can watch them all via direct download.

And if I did that and started watching television, when would I find time to make green tomato jam?

leenia, I only had fresh home made green tomato jam once in a charming chambre d'hôte in the Berry region.
Sorry about the thread drift but a recipe would be very welcome.
