Oliver Stone and George W. Bush

Comedy or cautionary tale?

LOL!!

I think I'll go see it. I love that line: "You're a bush, act like one." (I guess the idea is to stay rooted in one spot and act sort of prickly...).

Or break out in rashberrys?

Actually it does not seem like his usual crap to me.

In my opinion, Oliver Stone has produced nothing but crap.

So feel free to take my opinion with however many tablespoons of salt are required.

"Nothing but crap."

Didn't you already say that, DV?

Can't say I have a very high opinion of George W., but it would be interesting to see an honest analysis of his presidency, without all the liberal agenda.

Wasn't there any value to the George W. Bush presidency at all? In his case, I have to say that I doubt it. I've always thought that George W. was Dan Quayle in drag....er, disguise.

The reaction I have seen so far, here as well as on various TV prog's, demonstrates how the world in general, and the particularly the US, have fallen into the "I've already made up my mind, so there is no point in seeing it" syndrome. We have become a victim of our prejudices to the point we have already made up our minds as to whether we like or dislike this movie. It is a case of looking for proof to back up our preconceived notions.

GWB, IMO, is the worst President ever. Having said that, I am interested in straight analysis of his Presidency which will take years to happen. It will take 20 years just to see the full implications of his actions. This movie seems a bit premature to me, but if it is a biopic based on his life so far, and if it is based on provable information instead of conjecture or imagined facts, then it might be interesting.

All the best,

Mick

I'm getting the impression that it a psychological portrait of the man rather than a political analysis of his presidency. It has a lot of Freudian stuff like daddy issues. I'll watch it as a story told from a particular point of view. It seems as though it will be entertaining enough.

Here is one opinion of Bush's reign:

'Curious George' Chorus

"Let's give more food to the over-fed
So they can feed the hungry
Let's give more cash to the filthy rich
So they can feed the poor
Let's give more power to the President
So he can keep us free
Let's send more guns and bombs all around the world
To plant the seeds of democracy."
