I don't know the title but the chorus went: "I just can't wait to leave my job I just can't wait to go I can't get along with the people here And the work just bores me so" I think Roy Bailey used to sing it but I'm casting my memory back nearly 40 years now so I can't be sure! Is it on a record anywhere or lurking somewhere on the internet? All help gratefully received! |

Google the Ian Campbell Folk Group and it might be there among quite a number of results. |

The song is titled "I Just Can't Wait" by Ian Campbell and John Dunkerley. I heard it on the LP "That's Not the Way It's Got to Be" by Roy Bailey and Leon Rosselson on Acorn Records (CF251, 1975). The line I was trying to check was: "For the mortgage rates keep rising and I need security" I fairly sure it actually mentions a pregnant wife, perhaps "With a mortgage and a pregnant wife I need security" It fits, and that's what I sing on the rare occasions I do it. |

Came an sang at our little folk club. Gracious and so knowledgeable about folk music. And eclectic. He even sang something from a Britten opera. He'd sang on the radio ballads, and I remember he fancied Peggy Seeger. .....'over fifty, he mused, and she could be twenty five years younger......' I loved John Dunkerly's work as well. I seem to remember he got the same kind of cancer that killed my Mum - non hodgkinson's lymphona. Very sad. I remember with particular joy, John banjo accompaniment to The Unquiet Grave, and his guitar on Peggy Gordon. I also saw him at the old Blackthorn club do a goig with Geof Bodenham - he of 1812 fame. |

I probably would not have appreciated it in the 60s Ive watched a video of Peter Ostrowski playing it.
