BS: In Vino Veritas

Found on the Web:

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine... and those who don't.
As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria. In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli) - bacteria found in feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.

However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember:

Water = Poop

Wine = Health.

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of shit.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information: I'm doing it as a public service.

As W C Fields said - fish f*^k in it.

In Britain, several hundred years ago, it was said that we only drank water 'as a penance'.

Jack, I know you meant it as a joke, but Franklin could have known about bacteria, and since he was an inquisitive sort probably did, as them little buggers had been discovered in the 1600s.

Will my wife now stop whining about my drinking?

A post I made in a recent thread on a related topic:

I was reading a guidebook about Bruges/Brugge in Belgium, where I'm spending a few days this week:

...St Arnold, who founded the Benedictine Abbey of Oudenberge, to the west of Bruges in the 11th century. During a bout of plague, he plunged his cross into a vat of beer, and told people to drink it, instead of water. It was a miracle cure: people started getting better immediately, and St Arnold was made the patron saint of beer.

Here he is on the label of a beer bottle today.

Water should be regarded as a special treat to be reserved for special occasions.

[[[As W C Fields said - fish f*^k in it.]]]
I thought the common wisdom was that "fish sh_t in it."   (Actually, they do both.)

BTW, if you have too many glasses of Riesling or Shiraz and you end up forgetting to use a condom, is the resultant pregnancy a case of "in vino fertilization?"

Ah, but surely if you have too many glasses of Riesling or Shiraz, at least one of you is incapable anyway?

Seems to be the case in my experience....

On a similar note --

"A 2006 study found that the average American walks about 900 miles a year.
Another study found that Americans drink an average of 22 gallons of beer a
year. That means, on average, Americans get about 41 miles per gallon."

Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!

And also --

Last night my sister and I were sitting in the den and I said to her, 'I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle to keep me alive. That would be no quality of life at all, If that ever happens, just pull the plug.

So she got up, unplugged the computer, and threw out my wine.

She's such a bitch.

Ah, Liz, mon amie, if the one who overindulges in "le vin" is "la femme," she can be quite incapacitated and still end up knocked up.   Easily. (More's the pity.)

Moral (?): Ladies, when you tie on on, make sure your guy is even less sober than you!

Alas, that has always been my problem. I drive the buggers to drink and do they thank me?
