BS: Abu H

From: Roger the Skiffler

from AOL News:
Britain is to delay the extradition of radical Muslim preacher Abu Hamza to the US to face charges that he helped set up an al Qaida terror training camp.
The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg ruled on Monday that Abu Hamza should not be extradited until judges could examine his case. The Home Office said it would abide by the court's request.
America accuses Abu Hamza, whose real name is Mustafa Kamal Mustafa, of conspiring to establish a training camp in Bly, Oregon, where followers received combat and weapons training for jihad, or holy war, in Afghanistan.
They also say he helped the extremists who kidnapped 16 foreign tourists in Yemen in 1998. Three British tourists and one Australian visitor were killed in a shoot-out between Yemeni security forces and the captors. Hamza is also accused of facilitating terrorist training in Afghanistan.

Would he be allowed into the US any way if they can't take fingerprints and get an iris scan?
I'll get me turban...

Much as I dislike AH, the USA queered their own pitch by executing someone while his case was still before the International Court of justice (ICJ).

One more friggin' mess that this arrogant, ignorant man has gotten us into. Doesn't Bush realize the implications for Americans travelling abroad, as a result of this action? The execution of Medellin means that Yanks travelling abroad have lost the protection of the Vienna Accord. Foolish man......

Well, Mick, W has never had any problems traveling abroad. No long lines at security, never a problem getting a room...why, there are no problems at all for Americans abroad.

Just ask him.

Although I hate to speak up on behalf of someone I consider a war criminal and a mass murderer, believe it or not, GW Bush tried to stop the execution and ordered Medellin's case to be reviewed, but the Supreme Court said it would be unconstitutional to interfere with state judicial processes and overturned that order...

AH has cost and is still costing the UK thousands of pounds every year. I know people who struggle to get the benefits they are entitled to but he doesn't seem to have any problems!

"AH has cost and is still costing the UK thousands of pounds every year"

Try every week, Eanjay - that'd be nearer the mark.

We should send him back where he came from. I'm completely hacked off with paying through the nose in taxes to keep that piece of shit in luxury.

There are a very great many cases of people in poverty in the UK who are more deserving of our charity.

W has never had any problems traveling abroad. He might once he's no longer President, and no longer has the immunity from having his collar felt as am accused war criminal.

But then I doubt if he'll risk travelling too much.
.................
As for the Medellin execution, since it was done in clear breach of international law - as confirmed by Bush's attempt to intervene - this could mean that the Texas Governor concerned might be at risk of being arrested if he ever leaves the USA. Technically, in international legal terms, this execution should count as a lynching.

Mick: the decision to proceed with the Mexican Citizen who was found guilty of raping and murdering two teenage American girls while he was in this country illegally was made by the state of Texas. George W. Bush could not, had he wanted to, stopped the execution. According to a Associated Press story printed in today's Arizona Republic, "The International Court of Justice said Medellin and some 50 other Mexicans on death row around the U. S. should have new hearings in U.S. courts to determine whether the 1963 treaty was violated during the arrests. Medellin was the first among them to die. President Bush asked states to review the cases, but the U.S. Supreme Court ruled earlier this year neither the president nor the international court can force Texas to wait."

The story continues: Medellin's lawyers asked the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday to stop the execution until legislation could be passed to formalize case reviews ordered by the International Court of Justice.

The high court said in its ruling that that possibility was too remote to justify a stay."

I would imagine the same story was printed in newspapers other than the "Republic."
