Sites 2 & 3 I'm guessing are going to be fairly muddy as they are used as pasture. Anybody in that neck of the woods got any idea? |

Sorry! - but if campers are sensible (not too much vehicle movement etc) it's survivable. See you there Lady P -I'm stewarding in the Box Office again this year. Dave |

18 Aug 08 - 11:59 AM (#2416884) Subject: RE: Towersey Camping 2008 From: lady penelope Well, it's not going to have time to dry out appreciably even if it stops raining today. I would prepare for it to be definitely on the muddy if not wet side.... |
18 Aug 08 - 01:25 PM (#2416988) Subject: RE: Towersey Camping 2008 From: GUEST,flying scotsman As a Towersey festival goer for the past 15 years, it stands up pretty well to the rain. It gets very muddy in and around the entrances and the main thoroughfares but the camp sites themselves have always remained remarkably good. On the few occasions when the going has got tough, the organisers have been pretty quick with straw and duckboards to minimise the problem. A pair of wellies all you will need. |
19 Aug 08 - 03:51 AM (#2417524) Subject: RE: Towersey Camping 2008 From: Dazbo Thanks FS, I've been lucky enough so far to only be at Towersey in fine weather. The weather forecast is looking a bit better for the weekend:-) |
27 Aug 08 - 09:04 AM (#2423250) Subject: RE: Towersey Camping 2008 From: GUEST,Dazbo at work For future reference the Towersey campsite seems to drain very well and rapidly too. Apart from a few patches (especially where cars went) the Saturday night/Sunday morning deluge dried out after 3 or 4 hours of sunny spells and a bit of a breeze. |
27 Aug 08 - 05:39 PM (#2423727) Subject: RE: Towersey Camping 2008 From: Mr Red The day visitor carpark was muddy when wet but by mid afternoon is was dry enough not to worry. The theory goes that the whole area is chalk as can be seen on the Chiltern cutting on the M40 not that far away. Fast drainage is consistent with that. Dunno about camping I was there for the Sunday, only. But Sheila had few complaints, showers were busy all day but apparently no queues at midnight. |
27 Aug 08 - 05:44 PM (#2423735) Subject: RE: Towersey Camping 2008 From: Mr Red And no reports like at Shrewsbury last year where Shrewsbury in light colours showers were in between the main tent (and the imbibers) and the black painted loo-block. At night. Inevitably they were used as urinals! Midnight shower not recommended at Shrewsbury. |
