Swordies and rappers all,
Here it is, from the top, take a copy if you need to. Bit of a surprise to get an email from number 10!

You signed a petition asking the Prime Minister to "Include dance within
the historical re-enactment or Sporting Activity exemption for the purchase
of swords in reference to the Violent Crimes Reduction Bill."

The Prime Minister's Office has responded to that petition and you can view
it here:

Howver, this does not mean that longswords and broadswords and rapiers (sic) are legal - only that that particular legislation does not ban them.

The petition referred to that particular legislation however - I signed it also. Richard, are you aware of other new legislation that might impact sword dancing?

So still no respite from offensive dancing then? :D

I'm allowed - I've carried my share of sword bags and morris kit around!

A typical politician's reply - doesn't answer the question, just repeats what they've already told you.

Is there much of a problem with violent crime involving swords in the UK these days? Or dancing, for that matter.

There is a Morris Side in the Prtsmouth area who, as far as I remember, dance with ex-naval cutlasses - ie curved blades. Will that still be affected by the new repression?
