15 Aug 08 - 04:27 PM (#2414907) Subject: Bobert's Getaway Blues Band Thread... From: Bobert Okay, folks, this is more for the band and "the ladies" but it's time to get our act together so here's the latest: *I won't get to the Getaway until Sunday because I am co-promoting a benefit festival the day before... If I were just performing it would be one thing but seein' as I am one of the two promoters, I need to be there... *Nancy King is going to set up a mid afternnon mini concert for the band, which to date includes JimmyT on bass, Lonesome EJ on Harmonica, me on drums and various stringed instruments and Amos on absentia... lol... *I do not as yet have an confirmed "ladies" but am actively looking for 2 to 3 sexy womenz who know what feathers are for... If ya have to ask, you need not apply... lol... Sins??? You got all the qualifications... *Now I hate to be a pain in the butt but as some allready know the Bobert's Blues Band ain't gonna be like last time 'cuase we are goin' to be amplified... No, I ain't tryin' to be this old Smashing Pumpkins white haired dude... It's just that I'll be playing drums and a couple wierd stringed instruments that need amplification in order to be heard so by the time I get that going everyone else will need to be heard... It's a viocious cycle... Lastly, this is the thread where one applies to be part of the band so have at it... Don't be shy... Hey, we could still use a lead geetar player in addition to "the ladies"... BTW, to "the ladies": Ol' Bobert gonna have somethin' special fir wach an' every one of you beautiful thangs so sign up early while spots are still available... Bobert (aka Sidewalk Bob) p.s. I promise that after my mini that I will only play acoustic instruments that won't be plugged into nuthin'... |

15 Aug 08 - 08:20 PM (#2415077) Subject: RE: Bobert's Getaway Blues Band Thread... From: Bobert Well, one thing about the blues, tinker, is that you can never have 'nuff womenz 'cause a buddy of mine who has a blues band in Norway once tolt me, "The blues is 99% about women and other natural disasters' so I guess if we ain't gonna have a hurrican, a tornado, pestualnts, famine, world war then bring the womenz on... I'm gonna bring the feathers... B~ |

16 Aug 08 - 07:39 AM (#2415323) Subject: RE: Bobert's Getaway Blues Band Thread... From: kendall The blues aint nothin' but a good man feelin' bad. Do you know the difference between erotic and sick? Erotic is when you use a feather. sick is when you use the whole duck. I agree that anyone who shows up with an electric guitar should be out front. Out front of a semi that is. |
|
16 Aug 08 - 09:20 AM (#2415348) Subject: RE: Bobert's Getaway Blues Band Thread... From: Bobert Now don't be like that, Capt'n... Only one of the geetars is like a real 'lectric... The other one is made froma cigar box and has two broom sticks fir a neck... I think that one qualifies as a folk instrument... The one true 'lectric ain't like nuthin' that folks has never seen in that it makes Bo Diddly's geetar look like a strat.. But I'll just be doin' one song on each before going to a more tarditional resonator, which is acoustic... (Yo, Boberdz... Yo!!! Man, why are you tryin' to justify yer geetars to a Taylor guy???) Well, ya' do have point there...) (Yeah, he's just mad 'cause his Chevy won't run...) Ho9w's the Chev, Capt'n??? (Now yer showing yer grace, Bobz...) Geeze, this joint put a mean hurt on yer head some days... B~ p.s. What "duck", Kendall??? I weren't plannin' on bringing no duck that I know of??? |

16 Aug 08 - 05:46 PM (#2415619) Subject: RE: Bobert's Getaway Blues Band Thread... From: Fortunato No worries, Kendall. I should not have missed the humor. I'm likely getting too sensitive in my declining years. Don't let me spoil the fun. As to the tele and the amps, I understand that a vibrolux amp turned up to 9.5 can interfere with the operation of certain brands of pacemakers... probably good to leave it at home. (Wink, wink, nudge, nudge...) cheers chance |

20 Sep 08 - 02:45 PM (#2446065) Subject: RE: Bobert's Getaway Blues Band Thread... From: Genie Barry, I video'd the whole concert at Singtime Frolics here in Oregon last spring. It came out beautifully, both audio and video. Unfortunately, I was very new to using iMovie and doing the editing and saving thing and I accidentally deleted about 70% of the original file before I had saved those portions as sub-projects. (Sob!) But I'm doing much better now. I actually know how to save just the portions I want and then throw away what I don't want to keep. It is kind of hard to hold the laptop (with the built-in camera) while I'm tickling a guy like Bobert with a feather boa and shaking my big ol' bootay, but I think that's a logistical problem we can work out. ;D |
