28 Aug 08 - 11:00 AM (#2424342) Subject: RE: BS: Canadian Earthquake From: GUEST,Bob Ryszkiewicz There has been a lot of activity in the Vancouver Island Region in the last few days. Also, See TONGA, also XIZANG, China, Peru, Russia...All in excess of 6.0. This is global stuff, not just Vancouver. What makes me curious is the PATTERN around the globe... I hope our friends in California are as prepared as they claim to be... http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsww/Quakes/quakes_all.php |

28 Aug 08 - 01:04 PM (#2424491) Subject: RE: BS: Canadian Earthquake From: Metchosin We have clusters of earthquakes in that area along the Juan de Fuca Plate all the time. One that size might be felt in Port Hardy or Gold River, on the west side of the Island, but too far away to be felt on the south end or in Vancouver. Don't forget Vancouver Island is a very large island. What concerns me, is at least there is movement going on in that area, the rest of the plate doesn't appear to have as much and that might not bode well for the southern part of BC, Washington State and Oregon. http://earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca/recent_eq/maps/index_e.php?tpl_region=swbc |
