06 Jun 99 - 11:26 AM (#84394) Subject: Peter T. Welcome Home From: Rick Fielding Hi Peter. Well? Tell us about your adventures. Did you find Dr. Livingstone? (I presume not) Did you lead a revolution? Did you find love? The lovely and fiesty Katlarffing has been keeping us supplied with thoughtful thoughts in your absence. Oh, and while you were gone, the Tories swept back into power with a substantial majority, despite my Green Party vote. |

07 Jun 99 - 10:22 AM (#84589) Subject: RE: Peter T. Welcome Home From: Peter T. Dear Rick, Gee, I should go away more often: two whole threads with my name on them! I was in darkest Rio de la Plata country (not the Zambezi), which flows out of the great Pantanal swamp (as opposed to the Tory swamp here). Only good story: I was in a high class tourist resort on the coast (to get the bugs off me) and there was a band. The people I was with knew the band leader, and he came and sat down, and talked about all the years he had spent playing Spanish music for American tourists in fancy hotels all over South America. He said that when he got really sick of it he would have the band play "Guantanamera" and he would translate the words of the verses into English! (check it out sometime). Oh yes, and love continues to elude. "Yo soy un hombre sincero".... Yours, Peter |
