She wrote: "Barack Obama indeed has Irish ancestry. As he has said "I've got pieces of everybody in me." Church documents, census, immigration and other records tracked down by U.S. genealogists show that Obama's great-great-great-grandfather, Fulmuth Kearney, reared in Moneygall, County Offaly , Ireland, came to the US in 1850 at age 19. His family line eventually produced Ann Durham who married Barack Obama, a Kenyan. In l961 they had a son also named Barack Obama, now running for President of the United States. The town of Moneygall has one stop light, two pubs, and a population of 298 which is delighted. Villager Henry Healy, 22, says: "Sure it's great! There's a slight difference in what Shay's sings & what's posted above, noted espically is a verse towards the end that mentions MaCain, it's a classic verse. Also seated to Shay's right (left as you're looking at the screen) is mudcatter Loni & to his left (our right) holding the fiddle is Chanteyranger. I should also mention that the session's far older than 13 yrs, I was out there in 79-80 & it was a strong weekly session then though I don't know how long Shay's been running it & I know it's been quite a long time I do know that over the yrs I had a chance to to drop in from time to time & it's one of the best sessions I can think of, the playing & singing is always top shelf. It was sung tonight (not lead be me) at at our Friday night session at the Press Room (Portsmouth NH) & last Monday evening at the Green Briar in Brighton/Boston, US, Irish trad session ) I was requested by a bouch of the old time Irish musicians to sing it. All it needs now is an update from the campain song it was to the backing of the Prez's song that's it getting morph'd into. There is a slight veriation between the way the Corrigan Brothers (formerly known as Hardy Drew and the Nancy Boys) sang it, which is close to "Villikens and his Dinah" & the way Shay sings it. I've only heard it (& that the way I sing it) sung the way Shay sang it on U-Tube & truth be told I like it Shay's way & perfere to sing it that way. So I guess when I do sing or refere to it (the song ) I guess I'll have to give both credit but in all fairness the Corrigan Brothers (or should it go to 'Hardy Drew & the Nancy Boys') would be deserving on the lion's share of the credit, after all they are the creator's but their tune would I suspect be Trad? What about the chorus you ask? Are there any Corrigan brother's reading this, it's now getting foggy & we/I might benifit from you sheeding some light.
