07 Jun 99 - 10:14 AM (#84587) Subject: Thought for the Day (June 7) From: Peter T. Emma Buck is a 95 year old pioneer family farmer in Monroe County, Illinois, called "the last of the last of the last": "Her grandparents built the log cabin that Miss Buck lives in. Her grandmother described how German settlers, hearing that there was sickness aboard her immigrant ship from Germany, rowed out into New York harbor and tossed oranges onto the deck. 'Life is like that ship,' Miss Buck said now. 'Sometimes it blows forward, sometimes back. And just when you think all is lost, someone throws an orange on your deck.'" (New York Times, May 23, 1999)

And, yea, Peter I think I COULD come up with the emotion of the day, mostly a lively zestful passion for life! Nice Thot, by the way. I could use a few oranges on deck about now! katlaughing |
