Knowing their family, it was probably the most expensive guitar in the shop. Since her death it has languished in its case, and I was thinking there might be some deserving cause to which I could give it. Would a forty year old guitar still be any good? As you may guess, I am not a guitarist. |

However it was always a bugger to tune, so a few years ago I asked a luthier to have a look at it - when I took it to his workshop one of his blokes took one look and said "ah ha" - he knew the problem straight away. Apparently it is a copy of a Martin (don't know which model) and the original Martin guitar had the bridge a tidge too close to the soundhole. When the Japanese copied the design they made the same mistake. One new bridge later (in the correct position) and it tunes and plays like a dream. I'm not a very good player but this guitar even makes me sound good. Cheers JennieG |

Though I've got better guitars today I still play her from time to time. You can hear her play here: http://www.macjams.com/song/47063 best wishes Johannes Curry |
