30 Sep 08 - 07:19 PM (#2454281) Subject: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th mont From: katlaughing Can you believe it? Here we are at the ninth month! I don't think I got started very well and I've had some setbacks, but I do feel these threads have really helped AND, I have wrinkles on the back of my hands and I've had to tighten my pants around the waist, so I KNOW it has helped! Thanks to all of you! Here's part of what I said in the beginning: Please post your fitness/letting go of weight goals, as you meet them by the day/week/monthly. Also, feel free to post your goals in your first posting. Encouragement/chatting is okay, as long as it is kept to a minimum. Have fun and good luck! Feel free to make suggestions! |

01 Oct 08 - 07:24 PM (#2455244) Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th month!! From: LilyFestre No yoga for me tonight. I had scheduled a doctor's appointment after work today for a foot issue that has been bothersome for the last 2 months but lately is feeling worse and happening more frequently. She believes I have a stress fracture. I will have an x-ray taken tomorrow to confirm and depending on how severe it is, I may have to wear an orthopedic boot for a few weeks or even a cast. HMPH. My first thought was, how the hell am I going to do yoga in THAT?!?!? My second thought was, I can do yoga but will have to hold off on the jumping (jumping from standing forward fold back into plank for the suns) and warriors for a little bit. So...a little monkey wrench has been thrown in the works but it's only temporary and I can make adjustments to various positions to get me through. Michelle :) |

02 Oct 08 - 03:20 PM (#2455818) Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th month!! From: katlaughing Michelle, see if there is a shoe store there with a certified pedorthic technician. I went to my regular doc and a foot doc, both of who were sure I had a stress fracture, two different times. Both times it was soft tissue damage, no fracture. The foot doc wanted me to wear one of those boots. I tried it and it made it worse. I tried a bunch of different shoes. My friends kept telling me about "Mario, the shoe guy." I went to him a year ago and bought two pair of expensive shoes from him. I have gone back at least 2-3 times per month for FREE adjustments as we work to get them right for wherever I am at at that moment. It is great. The recent damage I've had was my own fault and the shoes being proper are the only reason I have been able to walk at all and am getting better. He *knows* the body alignment, the foot and its bones, ligaments, etc. like no one I've ever been to and he gets constant updated training. Hope that helps. Susan, any news yet? I hope you get to drive, again, soon! Walking - 20 minutes yesterday |

02 Oct 08 - 07:52 PM (#2455968) Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th month!! From: LilyFestre Thanks Kat!! The good news is that damage is minimal and I am going to be able to get by with keeping my foot wrapped up tight for a bit...no boot, no cast. The doc called me at home tonight to share the results but I wasn't here (meeting) so I'll call her tomorrow. Another good piece of news is this: I emailed my yoga teacher, told her the situation and she said OF COURSE YOU CAN STILL DO YOGA...lots of seated positions & floor work and for the standing positions, she is going to teach me some chair yoga (keeps the stress off the feet/knees and she's certified to teach that stuff but rarely gets the chance to do so....I think she's kind of excited about it!). We'll see how this goes. The doc suggested the local foot guy but I've seen him before and he's an ass. I went in to clear up some ugly toenails and he lectured me for an HOUR about being overweight. Ummmmmmmmmmmmm.....no foot issues...just ugly toenails. I should have told him what I thought but at the time I hadn't quite learned to speak my mind....unlike now. *G* Anyway, no cast....just a tight wrap for now! Michelle |

03 Oct 08 - 11:23 AM (#2456442) Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th month!! From: katlaughing That's good, Michelle. Weight Watchers told me I lost too quickly this week, 2.8lbs. This is after I made one of their lasagnas, winter squash with golden seedless raisins and pin nuts, and used it for lunch all week at only 6 points! But I also had a grilled chicken sandwich from Sonic, twice, with root beer at 11 points total. For the first time I didn't use all of my extra points and I know i exercised more this week. So, I'll make sure I use all of my points this week, so I lose at a safe rate. (Last week, I only lost .4) So, from Sept. 5th, my first weigh-in, I have lost a total of 7.6 lbs! I am happy with that! |

03 Oct 08 - 01:00 PM (#2456529) Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th month!! From: wysiwyg [shaking head] Kat, Kat, Kat..... be good! You MUST use your extra points, even if only to keep your heart safe. (Food is your friend, nyah nyah) But it's not about how much you lose each week-- remember? This thread is about keeping the activity level up and increasing what can be increased? Scale don't show muskles, sez Popeye. Instead of a morning pretending to watch TV while obsessing about a phone call I can't get till this afternoon, I hit the treadmill! One of my most important life-learnings (harvest the AFGOs) is that we human beans have complete freedom/choice of viewpoint. So I picked this one: My love of TV watching can be done LATER when I need chair entertainment, which is not today! So, six minutes at 2.5MPH with good form and no throat burn. Followed by about an hour of hanging out in the very chilly workout room doing tapes while Sadie did her time, which included some cruising around the room for me and some dog training time for Faulkner. Then LUNCH! I whipped the loo yesterday for the MIL visit, and I'll whip the kitchen later today. Earlier I bustled around re-washing and packing a motel-cooking box of tools and dishes so her week-long stay is comfortable. Tonight there will be strolling around the church with her. ~Susan |

03 Oct 08 - 05:54 PM (#2456734) Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th month!! From: LilyFestre Kat, As long as you use all your daily points, you are okay. The extra 35 a week is there for days that you need them or want them, they are not a requirement. In addition, the activity points you earn with exercise are not a must use kind of thing. I rarely use mine....just don't need them. You need to eat a minimum of your daily points to keep your metabolism up and running as it should. And from your post, I'd take it you are doing WW online, yes? Don't worry about that note that says you are losing too fast...it will come up once in awhile....worry about it if you have 3-4 weeks of losing too much at once as that can create health issues. Rock on sister! What's your favorite low-point snack? Michelle who didn't do yoga today...taking a day to let the foot rest. |

03 Oct 08 - 11:42 PM (#2456862) Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th month!! From: katlaughing Susan, thanks all the same, but it is about losing weight, for me, and the muscles are following because of the weight loss, i.e. makes it easier for me to move because my feet don't hurt as much, etc. and I do not have a problem with food. I am eating anything I like and it is truly great. Tonight, I had a treat...pizza! Michelle, most days, I use more than my daily points, borrowing a point or two from my extras. This past week is the only time I've had any extras leftover. I haven't figured out to get the online tracker to show when I use any of my activity points, but it isn't a problem, anyway. And, yes, I am doing it online, only. Right now my fav. snack is cucumbers sliced and pickled in vinegar water with onion slices, cold from the frig. Walking - 20 minutes, pushing a cart:-) |

I imagine that you do..it's a breeze. Ok, if you get to that menu, look up at the top of that box in the middle of your screen, there is an activity tracker, click the tab, track your activities/time there and be sure to hit SAVE. When you go back to your food tracker, those points should show up. Reminder...activity points can only be used the day you earn them. Also, a note from experience and NOT promoted or backed (officially) by WW....as you go down the scale, they tell you to reduce your weekly points....don't do that until you see your weight losses slowing down. The more points/food you have that your body is handling, the better...don't mess with a system that is working for you. Your snack sounds yummy!!! Our cukes are just NOW coming in (don't ask me why, I have no idea) so maybe I'll give that a try. Lately I'm digging on plums. 09 Oct 08 - 04:01 AM (#2460857) Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th month!! From: JennieG Well....after falling off the wagon, so to speak, I have climbed back on. A couple of weeks ago the doctor told me I had to lose weight although she didn't say how much. She did say I "wasn't obese" though! 12 months ago (almost to the day) I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, dangerously high despite a very normal reading just a few months earlier, so high I was at risk of a bad stroke. I have been on meds since but although BP has dropped it isn't low enough for safety yet. So meds have been changed to a stronger dose, and doctor said I have to exercise which I hate, loathe and detest, it is a waste of good sewing/reading/music/computer time. The most depressing thing is that I am turning into my mother, who took so many pills she almost rattled when she walked, and could be said to "enjoy ill health". For many years I have vowed and declared that I wouldn't end up like that but genetics and age are working against me. So for the past few days I have walked for 20-25 minutes (in addition to the usual walking around while shopping etc) and resented every minute, but I know I have to keep doing it. Thank you all for listening, I feel better already although still depressed about the whole thing. Cheers JennieG |

09 Oct 08 - 05:02 PM (#2461418) Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th month!! From: wysiwyg Food and exercise do not cancel each other out. We need BOTH. Me? 60 smokin' minutes last night at 170-180 BPM AquaRunning. Heart-pounding, lung-burning, leg-churning FUN! (OKd by docs) Reminding me that once you achieve a certain fitness threshold, "rest" days properly applied don't really take you backwards from your program. (I'm getting a good integration now of land and water activity.) Any minute, off to do some yard-meandering time with Hardi re-marking treelets to save/eliminate. He'll end up with a nice X-country ski track, and we'll both get a privacy screen making a real BACK yard for next year's outdoor life. Had a GREAT mini-meeting at the hot tub last night with a fitness mentee who didn't know that you can smilingly decline the weigh-in at the doc's office-- you know, when the nurse comes to get you? They depress her so much-- she's muscling up, and she's gone from a men's 3x to a men's 1X over gym shorts. She was bragging about her first 1-hour walk on land. I told her that means she ALSO can start planning an hour on the treadmill or in deep water-- slow! I also told her how she can talk with her doc about using measurements-- and a workout log!-- instead of the scale, to track her progress. Them MD peeps jus' need a little help. :~) He can put that in her chart instead of the scale readings. ~Susan |

09 Oct 08 - 06:15 PM (#2461490) Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th month!! From: JennieG Michelle, I tried yoga a few years ago. Our local community college has yoga lessons. When I signed up the office lady said the instructor had been with them for many years and was very good. So I turned up at the class full of hope....and no one, not even the instructor, spoke to me. It seemed to be a class of 'regulars' who all knew each other and the instructor, and she knew them, and I felt I had gatecrashed a private class and had no business being there. I persisted for a few lessons but each week was the same, so I left and haven't gone back. And I used to dance a lot - Scottish country, Irish set, Australian colonial, Contra - but an arm injury (at a dance!) a few years ago meant I didn't go for a while. When I started going back the Sydney dance scene had changed a bit, I kept trying but was told that, as an 'unaccompanied woman' I was unwelcome. My diet's OK - the occasional piece of chocolate - but overall not bad. It's the exercise that I lack. Sorry about my rant last night. I have to get it off my chest sometimes. Cheers JennieG |

10 Oct 08 - 07:44 AM (#2461949) Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th month!! From: Jess A hiya.. I keep an eye on this thread from time to time but haven't posted before... Jennie, I really sympathise about resenting fitting in exercise. For years I've felt I wasn't fit enough but as a busy person never made time to do anything about it and never found much that I enjoyed anyhow. It's not a weight issue for me, more to do with stamina/strength/feeling tired all the time plus wanting to guard against injury when I dance. Couple of things have changed for me though, this past year or so, net result of which has been I feel fitter at the moment than I have done since I was a kid. One is I've got together with a group of (mostly equally not fit enough) friends and we play badminton a couple of times a week. I am rubbish at motivating myself to do something on my own but if we've booked a court and I've promised to be there then I go - and mostly enjoy it :) The other is I've started cycling to work, after years of being frightened of the traffic and the hills. And it's saving me money (bus fares) and time (takes approx same amount of time as the bus on a good day, but predictably the same every day whereas bus can vary by 15 mins depending on timetables) and I'm finding that kind of activity on the way home is de-stressing my head in a way that waiting for bus and reading my book wasn't doing. Plus its getting me fit - so there's a 4-for-1 benefit. Not that these two things would work for everybody but I think my big lesson has been about letting go of resenting the time spent/wasted (no I know it's not really wasted but sometimes hard to believe that) doing exercise versus doing other stuff, plus finding ways to shoehorn exercise into my busy lifestyle in a way that becomes routine and has other benefits too (socialising, money saving, head de-stressing...) In the past I'd tried pilates and aerobics type classes and they didn't suit me one bit. J |

12 Oct 08 - 12:34 PM (#2463693) Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th month!! From: Stilly River Sage Last week I spoke to an old friend out in the LA area who has finally gotten into a diet that should not only make her feel better but should save her life. I think there are numerous health problems that were aggravated by weight, and after losing 30 pounds she is now a couple of pounds lighter than me (yet is nearly 3 inches taller). Time to take a page from my friend's example and stop drifting along at this weight where I'm not happy. I haven't gained back all that I lost last year, but enough that I'm back in fat pants again and I have less energy. I had added dairy into my diet since spring but that was a mistake; I'll make a point of eating more dark green veggies to get the calcium the dairy supposedly added in. I knew better, but I hoped I would be active enough I could get away with regular ice cream, etc. Nope. I pulled out the Scarsdale Diet book and started with it on Monday. I use that to kind of "cleanse" my system, get off of the sugar habit, and I stopped drinking a glass of wine or a beer in the evening. But if I stay on this very long my metabolism shifts and I hit a plateau I can't get off of, so I'm staggering my diet. On weekends I'll eat normal stuff, moderately and prudently, no desserts, but adding a glass of wine or a beer, using bread and potatoes, etc. I get more exercise on the weekend so this should be a time of no weight gain or loss and simply letting the metabolism do it's usual thing. However, this evening I'll wrap up my weekend of "normal" eating and follow the Scarsdale diet during the week. I have the weekends to look forward to with more varied eating, and last week went by very nicely. My pants aren't as tight as they were a couple of weeks ago. SRS |

I want to get it down below 6; complications drop off at that number and that is of course what I really want (i.e., not to lose parts of my body due to clogging my capillaries). Michelle, are you too far awway for me to send my 22's? They are getting loose. Anybody got 20's they are getting rid of?? I may be cut back to 4 days a week next year instead of being laid off. 19 Oct 08 - 04:43 AM (#2469715) Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th month!! From: Liz the Squeak I have no qualms about the swimsuit - it's the public pool that puts me off... having to swim about with all those other people and their feet... I used to swim regularly in a local pool, and I'd also regularly have a chest infection. I stopped swimming and the chest infections stopped. Seems I'm sensitive to the amounts of chlorine they use to counteract the amout of people who still insist on using the pool as a toilet. The day I saw a baby sized turd float past (babies aren't allowed in the main pool and it was a tiny turd as from a baby, not a baby-sized turd... not even a beer and pie diet can produce baby-sized turds), was the last day I went to that swimming pool! Anyhoo... the weight loss continues. My scales say it's a loss of 10lbs so far, but I didn't make it up the road to the official weigh in... so I don't know officially if I made my target. 23 Oct 08 - 05:08 AM (#2473483) Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th month!! From: mouldy Is it too late to join in, as I only made the decision, and joined weight watchers on Monday evening? So far, Tuesday, day one - no points saved but another earned. Day two - 5 points over, due to it being session night... and they WERE only 2 small, plain cheese and 1 plain chicken triangle sandwiches... and I only had one glass of stout...one ginger beer...one coffee... Day three has seen me onto the skimmed milk at last. Drinking lots of hot water instead of tea/coffee with only a couple of the real thing during the day now. Filling up on apples and pears, and an occasional 1 point biscuit. I have discovered that half fat cheese tastes gross! Suppose I'll have to get used to it. Swimming is a good exercise for me, but I have to motivate myself to get into the car and drive at least 7 miles to a pool, and only at certain times when I can do lengths properly. Seeing as how the local schools all use the leisure facilities, makes it a bit restrictive, and at lunch times they get full. Gym pools are also too small for me, and often you spend your time weaving around the people who are merely winding down after exercise. I don't get on well in gyms, as I get pains in my arm when I do some stuff, and despite the hospital saying I haven't got angina (still not convinced, after nothing happened on the hospital treadmill - which it does in the gym after about 10 mins), I do have high BP, and some shoulder problems. I have got a new bike, a good one, but I am a little nervous after a long break from riding. I WILL get on it - it's good cycling round here, as it's fairly flat. I just have to make sure I can judge the distance so that I can make it back again, and try to keep off the main roads. Andrea |

Andrea, take it slow and take your time, don't beat up on yourself and do what you are comfortable with! I started out last Jan. doing a bunch more on treadmill; hurt my feet and I am just NOW getting to where I can do much of anything on my feet.:-) Michelle, I modified the recipe WW had online. Here's my version: Preheat oven to 350 degrees 2.5 cups of unsweetened almond milk 2 tbsp pine nuts 3/4 cup golden seedless raisins 1 cup mozzarella (made with skim milk) 20 ounces of winter squash ( I buy two 10 oz. boxes of frozen. WW's recipe only calls for 10 oz, but I like more filler) 12 whole wheat lasagne noodles (WW calls for 10 oz of dry noodles, which works out to about 12) 1/3 cup grated parmesan 2 medium garlic cloves, minced 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour Put the flour in a small saucepan over low heat, gradually adding in the flour and garlic, constantly stirring until it thickens - this is your white sauce. When it thickens, add the parmesan and salt and pepper to taste. Spread 1/4 cheese sauce in bottom of 9" X 13" pan. Cover with three noodles. Top that with 1/3 squash and 1/2 cup cheese sauce. Sprinkle 1/2 cup mozzarella and 1/4 cup raisins. Add 3 more noodles and spread 1/3 of remaining squash and 1/2 cup cheese sauce. Top that with 1/3 of the squash and 1/4 cup of raisins. Cover that with 3 more noodles and top that off with what's left of the squash and raisins. Add last three noodles and press them down firmly. Cover the top with last of cheese sauce and sprinkle with pine nuts and last of mozzarella cheese. Bake until it bubbles around the edges and is brown on top, usually about 30 minutes. Slice into 8 pieces. Each one is 5 points. (I guesstimated the squash I used at about 1.5 of what they have listed. It seems to be the unsweetened almond milk which brings it down to 5 pts from 6. Their recipe calls for fat-free condensed milk.) BTW, good luck dividing something made with THIRDS into EIGHT pieces! I usually just cut the whole thing up into nine pieces and slice the extra one up into eight pieces, which seems ridiculous, but that's the best way I could wrap my head around it.:-) |

25 Oct 08 - 03:11 AM (#2475632) Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th month!! From: Liz the Squeak Cous cous pizza: tried it on Wednesday and it's bloody lovely! 300 g cous cous - you can use the pre-packaged, pre-spiced stuff available (Ainsley Harriot does a good line of this in the UK) 2 eggs 30g grated cheese (about an ounce) your favourite pizza toppings. Make up the cous cous per instructions on the packet or as you normally do it. Beat the eggs and mix with the cous cous. Spread out on a plate or a 7" round cake pan and microwave for 5-7 mins until firm. Meanwhile, using 'Fry Light' (cooking fat in a a spray can), cook your favourite pizza toppings. Obviously, the lower fat ingredients you use, the lower fat content of the whole pizza, so red onion, mushrooms, courgette (zucchini) and peppers are good. Put the veggies on top of the cooked base, sprinkle the cheese over that and whizz it under a hot grill for a few minutes if you like your cheese really melted and golden. Otherwise, the heat of the base should melt it. It's really scrummy and great for those who don't like tomato or are on a regime that excludes processed flour. For those following the 'Slimming World' system, depending on which day (red or green) you're following, it's absolutely free of Syn points! LTS |

25 Oct 08 - 08:51 PM (#2476165) Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th month!! From: wysiwyg I can feel the inner drive prompting me to the next round of loss now-- my program's a cycle of lose some (slowly), maintain that, then lose some more; repeat. That means not changing the dietary program between these two cycles, but upping the activity level in the loss cycles. That puts the exercise into definite seasons and keeps the food from becoming a binge/repent cycle-- good habits more easily maintained and with a basic activity level in the slower end of the cycle to keep metabolism up. A new workout buddy is heavily into the weight-lifting thing, so I may work those machines as well and keep the aquatics all aerobic. Have to come up with some reasonable goals and parameters.... ~S~ |

(It had been too much walking on concrete in the wrong shoes, and it knocked me out of my program for weeks.) But yesterday, I woke up frisky (physically if not mentally), and did some good fresh-air decluts (and I admit it, some recluts). And THAT means that I was RIGHT that some of that screaming was BONE GROWTH-- bones get denser when we stress them to the right degree. And that means I clearly am getting stronger all the time, so today I will spend the day puttering through the house in good support shoes, tidying up and filling up/stowing winter drinking water jugs. And I'll thaw a no-effort supper to welcome Hardi home-- he has a rare evening off, so we're agreed that there's hockey and snuggling to look forward to! One ordination down, and one more Big Event to go, Saturday; then it's winter relaxing till Crimmiss bizziness. ~S~ |

He doesn't push any particular *diet* but rather shares information from a different perspective...I found him to be quite refreshing. It wasn't physical activity for me today (unless you count teaching all day) but rather more mental/thought provoking activity today. It's all good. Michelle |

From: GUEST,LTS pretending to work Another pound lost, another run for the bus this morning and another 30 mins power walk to come in less than an hour... I'm just stunned that I had the energy at 6.00am to run for the bus, and had got my breath back before I reached the station! Obviously the 11lbs I've lost has gone from crucial places. LTS |

30 Oct 08 - 09:39 AM (#2479847) Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th month!! From: wysiwyg A new goal will be treadmill time any AM the dogs are getting theirs. Up to the limit where I'm too sore to go to the pool later the same day, as a guide to keeping priorities straight. And more pool days, with Hardi's support and assistance. Starting today. Brekky thawing as I post, then clothes and shoes and out to the brisk, sunny workout room. The dogs are calling! :~) This plan is going to need a lot of support, BTW. In particular I will need to remember that I have everything I need, to do it, and God's muscles to build. He hasn't told me what that means; He's just tried to make it clear. ~Susan |

30 Oct 08 - 10:46 AM (#2479912) Subject: RE: BS: Accountability - counting goals 9th month!! From: wysiwyg So the baseline this week is 5 minutes at 2MPH. Here's an unsolicited tip for anyone considering bariatric surgery, who doesn't have a food addiction. The insurance companies say the reason they find bariatric surgeries is because, statistically, it proves to save them more than the cost of the surgery in the first two years after the surgery. The inevitable conclusion for the thinking person is that this is lowest-common-denominator action, not medical-care-designed-for-YOU action. The drive to have these surgeries comes from the managed care industry. But did you know that in the weeks following the procedure, patients are coached to stretch their new, diminshed stomachs UP to hold the portion sizes the docs want us to be able to eat? And did you know that if you gradually cut back on food portions WITHOUT THE SURGERY, you can get your "I feel full" capacity down to the same size and, with proper exercise, your metabolism re-set to the "I can burn fat instead of eating" level? That's right. You can have a surgeon take you DOWN to a mutilated size for you to increase back UP to the desired size-- or you can DO IT YOURSELF. Your insurance will probably not support your effort to do that-- but Mudcat can. How to do it? The mini-meal process I've described. How to know when you've over-eaten after you've shrunk your stomach? You'll get an IBS attack. Yup. Some IBS is just the natural result of an over-filled stomach sending some of the contents downline to the gut-- rapid peristalsis. Have a nice day, ~Susan |

DONE (could barely do it), and it's all sitting right outside my puder window reminding me that spring will be here all too soon so I better get really STRONG! That unused patio table sure made a nice sliding cradle for chainlink fabric and poles. The bird crap on it needed to be sanded off, anyway! :~) ~S~ |

Back at my workouts after a 2 week break due to a fall (stiff neck, banged up knww, ?pulled muscle). SAD light is here, waiting for Sunday. Got to beat the Lexapro, which was helping me stay fat. I like my new shrink. Kicking the Lexapro was a bitch; felt like withdrawal -- but now that's over. Life is OK. |

From: wysiwyg Pool ten minutes BackHab (the half I didn't do the last time-- crossovers), and 20 minutes slow aerobic aquajogging. All designed to remove chainlinked kinks from muskles and get legs in deep water pressure. Hot tuhhhhbbbbb after...... HATE this part of getting back into form, but I do know it's worth it and that it will be fun much sooner than it feels like. Hardi was a dreamboat to take me and work out in the weight room/use treadmill till I was done, and fed me, too. One of my favorite things over the summer was both of us working out at the same time-- he'd drop me at the pool and then go ride the bike on the trails. We'd end at the same time, and go have a snack. It's a better rhythm for me, even if we have two totally different disciplines. We meet up and share results, talk strategy, etc.-- kind of a Pat and Mike thing. Tomorrow, more outdoor stuff, probably no pool till Sunday evening. ~S~ |

I'll get Halloween candy for the kiddos this evening, but I won't get anything I'm tempted to eat. I'm not going to start a new thread for this next bit, but I got an email from the Trust for Public Lands about a "brew at home" pledge sponsored by a coffee company that results in donations to TPL. I don't drink coffee, but I went ahead and did it (and checked the box to not receive any information from them). http://www.goodearthcoffee.com/pledge.html If you're interested. I always brew (tea) at home and drink from a mug, I'm not throwing out paper or styrofoam cups to support my habit. :) SRS |
