02 Oct 08 - 05:45 PM (#2455908) Subject: RE: BS: Palin and Evita---parallels? From: Genie Well, my Cheney comparison was a little unfair. I'm sure Dick could rattle off a Supreme Court decision or two - either by name or by substance - besides Roe v. Wade, if asked. Palin's responses to Katie Couric's questions reminded me so much of those undergrads who haven't read the book or paid attention in class and then try to '7-crown' their way through the essay questions on the mid-term. Lots and lots of words, often redundant, usually vague, basically saying nothing. As for her being "beautiful," aside from that not being a relevant criterion on which to vote, I just don't see it. Is this yet another example of our expectations being set too low? Does the American public have such a distorted view of what other female political leaders look like that any slender, well-dressed, attractive woman who comes to national attention is now a "hottie" or a "MILF?" |
|
02 Oct 08 - 06:09 PM (#2455921) Subject: RE: BS: Palin and Evita---parallels? From: Little Hawk Heh, Genie - What the hell does MILF mean, anyway? I've been wondering about that for some time. Does it mean "married, if lonely, female"...? or "Man, I Like Fucking!"...? or "Moron In Lace Flimsys"...? What??? I wouldn't exactly call Sarah Palin "beautiful". On the other hand, she is a reasonably good looking woman who appears to be in good physical health and dresses well, etc. Whether or not you think she's a "hottie" is strictly a matter of personal perception...or what standard you are comparing her to, I suppose. She definitely is more attractive than Margaret Thatcher or Golda Meir, for instance... |

03 Oct 08 - 10:13 AM (#2456402) Subject: RE: BS: Palin and Evita---parallels? From: MAG I think it's apt. Evita and hubby were thugs. If (heaven forbid) Sarah gets in, it's curtains for anyone who disagrees with her handlers. I wonder how much the right wing pressured McCain to select her. I would like to think he at least has been around enough to understand where she is coming from. Do you who like her really want a (potential) pres who cannot feal with the press? Who thinks it's mean to ask her about her qualifications? (like the other candidates didn't have to answer that question.) I live in a pretty conservative neck of the woods, and many people are so mad at the GOP they'll vote for whoever the Dems put up. The right wing has finally managed to split up the GOP, and it's high time. Mainstream GOP are not anti-abortion, or religious fanatics. I can't wait to hear the results of the VP debate. I hope Biden wiped the floor with her. Not that she won't cry "meanie." |

03 Oct 08 - 01:56 PM (#2456566) Subject: RE: BS: Palin and Evita---parallels? From: Genie I think Benazir Bhuto (sp?) was more beautiful than Palin too. If Sarah Palin walked down the street in most any city and were unknown, I don't think lots of people would be stopping in their tracks going, "Wow! What a knockout!" And Riginslinger, Biden didn't need to wipe the floor with her. (If he had, he'd have been skewered for it in the media.) He simply didn't allow her to land her attempted right hooks and upper cuts. Using a different sports analogy, the whole 'debate' was a low-scoring game, and while Palin didn't strike out, she did pitch quite a few foul balls, and never really had a solid base hit beyond maybe a single -- much less any home runs. |

From: Stilly River Sage On Craig Ferguson's show last week he said: "At a concert last week [Madonna] said she was going to kick Sarah Palin's ass. I'm thinking I'd quite like to see that. That's going to be a sexy little underpants pillow fight. Like Madonna tries to poke out the eyes with her pointy cone bra and Palin's well-protected with the naughty librarian glasses. Get out of my dreams and into my shiny-floored studio. But Madonna and Sarah Palin are very different, of course. One is a dangerously insane celebrity who has no business discussing politics and the other one is Madonna, so right there..." SRS |
