Mr Red, The Kings Arms is the pub on the corner of Upchat Rd & The High St,
so you would pass it to get to your circle :-)

We hsve our folk club on the Friday night, with Ghosts of course. Ghosts are Paul Sirman and Ron Trueman-Border, but should be able to get there on Saturday. Will advise RB in due cause if he needs to bring the Hagstrom.

Sigh.. wish we could be there. Even though it starts at the end of half term, Chris has loads of marking and lesson planning to do. He is hoping to use all of half term to get caught up. What time does the music typically start at this type of event?

Poor Chris just tie the ankle biters up in a corner, Bring back the cane.Mind you the kids are lucky nowdays they have someone to abuse them I had such a deprived childhood I had to abuse myself (JOKE) OOps wrong thread deviants is the Crown thread.
It,ll start when more than a few beers have been consumed and continue while a few more are drunken 2ish to fall down time.
Looking forward to seeing you too growlerxxx
Does that mean we have the great TDL coming to The Kings Arms ? who but a pair of deviants would dress in animal skins and bang on another one? xx

I feel really dumb. Do I know Dilligaf? Feel that I should. I am still working on Chris. Those ankle biters are all over 16 and unfortunately they are concientious enough to turn in assignements on time, but not enough to do them correctly in the first, second, third place. Another problem is more students and fewer teachers. So the weekends are eaten up. Anyway, I hope we can do Saturday afternoon to mid evening.

Good Grief! Now Chris is saying we can do 2 days, which means I need to learn some new songs. Now to decide which days and find B&B. I already have Friday off work, so maybe Friday and Saturday.
But then Thursday I am at the Rising Sun in Billericay (first time) by special invitation and I am taking friends which I have never sung in front of before. Yes... I am a masochist!

I may be brave enough to bring my new toy to Kings Arms. Appalachain Dulcimer (her name is Somerset). Won't dare play her in front of anyone yet, but others are welcome to give her a go.

AWWW! No fancy dress for the big kids? I was gonna break out my saloon girl dress and fishnet stockings. Hey what am I thinking? Folking is fancy dress... one look at Melodeonboy is proof of that. I think the contents of his wardrobe was his take from a Hawaiian luau hold up.

I'm gigging Friday and Saturday evenings, but a cameo appearance on Saturday afternoon is a distinct possibility. Will there be much happening on Sunday?

I am thinking about changing days from Fri thru Sat to Sat thru Sun.   Seems silly to come all that way and pay for B&B for only one evening and one afternoon of jolly. Better to come for Sat afternoon and evening and afternoon Sunday. Well only if the B&B is ameanable to me changing night of stay.

Ruff & Reddy only on Sunday
Essex Girl and Naughtyforty Sat or Sun or both?
TDL and a cub on Sat?
Did the Barden find accommodation or designated driver?
RB is bringing Hagstrom "with varnish" for Ben to play on Sat.
Dilligaf in the house the whole weekend?

Who else is going and what days?

The weekend could turn into a total disaster as I think I am free on all days & might very well turn up for the duration.
Her indoors will be driving. I know she knows where it is, as she used to live there when her folks managed the pub and I was a regular owing to the fact that I was a Regular (in bloody army up the road) but I saved her from a life of sin by marrying her.
So she will bring me AND her amazing dancing feet.

Far to large for me, but then im a sensetive sort with few needs, as everyone knows, dilli , i doubt seamus will be coming as its difficult getting him through the door of the car, and he also is a sensitive soul, treacle and obvious should be able to make it, ive checked thier itinery and it seems they are clear, badger, well who could stop him, as for pisso, well if he lives that long he should make it, maybe with his neck in a sling, so the tribe should be there, as for breaking your toyboy, what do you expect, he is only a lad.

Don't worry she's warm and she's easy to keep
She'll not ask for diamonds or rubies or wine
And served up with mint sauce, she'll taste mighty fine

And it's men, men, drink to the men
Drain mug or goblet and raise it again
Although they are trouble they're still one in ten
It's worth every minute, so drink to the men

Two of the chefs are male one a small 60ish scott with 20 odd years in the army, the other younger and with a girlfriend, Nikki is more your sort but only 23 and with a 6ft odd boyfriend (so tough.) Stick to sheep their easier to digest when eaten when the passion dies.Just remember mutton takes longer but taste better and is worth the wait xx

I have been diagnosed with a Hiatus Hernia, so no spicy foods, cut down the alchohol, lose some weight and eat sensibly - yeah, right!!! I'm a Morris Dancing, Folkie, Civil War Musketeer - looks like I picked the wrong week to give it all up!!!

I, We will be there for a large part of the weekend - and in response to Dilli, no need for a substitue, I am better, fully working, and ........, well, you get the drift!

My God, I will even sing on Sat or Sun having suffered a little stage/confidence fright over the last couple of months.

YOOOOWWWWWW! The Winter is here, but, HEY, only 6 Months before we welcome Jack back into our World on May Day!!!!! Life is ROSEY!!!!!

See you at the weekemd

Bruised and battered and needing arnica gel (wonderful stuff) rubbed in everywhere. If miracle occurs, see you on Saturday. Otherwise see you at Crayford next Sunday with Ben,

Urrghhh! This is all outdoors? Are there shelters? Maybe the sun will follow me. I have been very lucky the last 3 UK holidays. Though forecasts were grim, 2 Scotland holidays and 1 Cornwall holiday the sun broke out when we arrived and rain returned one week later on the day we left. Praying the weather goddess is still smiling on me.

It was a bit disappointing really - a nice range of beers but I could only sample 4 halves because of driving, and after The RuffnReddy Taxi left there were only a few of us remaining, and only Fisheye and me instrumentalists (Pete the Hat does accompany himself too) so it lagged a bit, and not long after 6 the pub turned the juke box in the next bar on which really got on my tits. Perhaps RuffnReddy should hire one of my Volvos rather than relying on Melodeonboy's Astra!

Kev the Clogs, despite his recent post announcing re-arrival merely sat and drank. Now with the late Pete Hicks it used to be quite different - put beer in, music came out!

Treacle and Obvious were - well, obvious, on an olfactory level, (albeit very sweet).

Essex Girl NaughtyForty and VIrginia Tam sang well, and Dead Horse entertained although Mrs Dead Horse was absent

Thanks Val
for arranging a great afternoon at the end of the evening I was up and ready for a all nighter but alas it was not to be so I went home. Thanks for the lift Fisheye.
I did start chatting up that Mermaid in the beer garden but she was a stoney faced old seaswitch so I left her to it.( The most attractive garden feature I think I have ever seen )

Well done to all singers. Nice to have met Dead Horse and I liked his Titanic song very much I must let my internet pals on Titanic .Titanic.com know about that song.

Richard to be honest matey I am not much cop at accomanying others has much has I would like to be able too,
So I think its best that I play me songs If I can remember them and let others accompany me to make them sound better if they so wish. I dont relie on it but its nice when it happens.

My nerves kick in if Im asked to accompany anyone Look at kNOCKHOLT 2 years ago Where Woodsie got me ,Pat and Deb and himself all together to play a song . I bottled it in the end and couldnt do it. it didnt make me very popular but I cant help that.

Its a funny thing nerves I can take 80 odd people round Chislehurst Caves for a hour and a half and they enjoy it I know they do by the tip box at the end of the tour but I find it difficult to play in front of people and impossible to accompany. So be it.

Look forward to seeing you all at Crayford.

Rate the event.

What was bad? Yah! Like I had been promised a Billericay Dickie. True dat Growler promised on behalf of Melodeonboy. Must be his pimp or somethin. Anyway I went away sadly disappointed and not only by not hearing the songs promised me, but because it all just withered and died too soon.

I don't know what Friday was like but the Saturday afternoon session was good. Thanks to Dilligaf's valiant efforts. The weather and other mitigating factors could not be controlled. Fingers crossed the next one will be better.

What was good? Heard great music. Essex Girl sang some new (to me) songs.   I love Naughtyforty's song about the Portugese stealing a bloke's girl and him doin' them both in.... etc. What is that song?

I got to know people better. And had a proper meeting of and now renewed appreciation of Dilligaf. Fantastic - your rendition of "I Will Survive."

I picked up a loaner mandolin- thank you Mr. Bridge. Everyone wish me luck, please. And was pleasantly surprised that he managed not to kill off so many people in his selections. I have a request. Next time, could we have Uncle Joe's Mint Balls. You won't disappoint me will you, RB?

I wish there had been more peops, like TDL and Jock and Barden of England, etc. But then the room would not accommodate more.

On the whole I give this event a thumbs up. I did enjoy myself and had a good meal in the dining room after everyone left.

BTW... did anyone go back today (Sunday)? We had a little drive around down to Grain and then wander around Upnor (castle, etc) and did not see anyone at the pub when we peeked inside and in garden around 1:50. The sun was out though. Cheeky devil.

I know what you mean. I am usually in the grip of terror when performing. Especially singing, unless it is noisy and people are talking. It makes it easier for me if I think people are not paying attention.

Would it be improper of me to announce that people should please talk amongst themselves before I start singing? "Bloody sarcastic American" is probably the response I would get.

Anyway, I hope I will be less intimidated if I can manage to learn an instrument to accompany myself. To play well enough to join others would be a dream.

Keep on playing and singing as you do. We love it. Who knows, maybe a time will come when we both can jam with the "real" musicians.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!

Reuters:

                   RICHARD BRIDGE IN COMPLIMENT ROW

The Kent folk world was rocked to its foundations today after allegations were made that local professional curmudgeon and folk singer, Richard Bridge, paid a compliment to local folk trio, Ruff 'n' Reddy, after hearing one of their songs. No independent confirmation has yet been received, but the local folk scene is bracing itself for yet another storm.

The event in question is alleged to have taken place at The King's Arms, Upnor last Saturday afternoon. Local hedge fund manager and former All-Kent tiddleywinks champion, Mr. C. Crunch, was in the adjacent bar at the time. "I can't confirm exactly what happened", he said, "but I heard people gasping in the next room and I saw one of the bar staff take in some smelling salts. I also noticed that for the first time all afternoon, that bloody melodeon fell silent. Even the ferrets stopped moving!"

A spokesman for Ruff 'n' Reddy declined to be interviewed, but informed the press that the band were still in a state of shock and had had to repair to a local hostelry to try to come to terms with the situation.

Major G. Rumpy, spokesman for the Kent branch of CRC (Campaign for Real Curmudgeons) expressed grave misgivngs about the situation: "This is just another example of the touchy-feely society that Britain has now become and the increasing pressure on our members to be nice to people. It's the thin end of the wedge."

Should the allegations turn out to be true, it's likely that many observers will see this as yet another case of Spotted Cat Syndrome, where increased exposure to Kent band, Tone Deaf Leopard, has been shown to cause confusion and personality changes.

Please! I do not prostitute myself. I am an AMATEUR curmudgeon and folksong singer - although as curmudgeons go I feel I can hold my own with the best, the result of years of diligent practice, and not allowing myself to curm in public before I can be confident that the curming will be free from eror, and performed without music stand or words or safety net.

melodeonboy... I laughed until I cried. However, check your sources. I didn't spot any cats in the vicinity of this alledged event, though I was pretty confused by the cider.

RB... Curming is perhaps a new olympic event?
"curming will be free from eror"
More practice is definitely needed as I am sure a professional curmudgeon would not permit such a glaring spelling gaff to go by.

Subject: RE: Kings Arms Upnor Beer Fest 1/2nd Nov
From: Richard Bridge

Perhaps you mean "gaffe". A Gaff is wot us livs in in Lower Coke.

An eror of course is a technical defect in a curm, perhaps only recognisable by at least serious amateur curmudgeons. It is the complaint that contains a hint of praise.

"My aunt's cat sings better bass harmonies than that and he had his bollocks off ten years ago" - that is a curm without eror.

"If you practised occasionally that bass harmony might be merely bad rather than unspeably dreadful" contains a grave eror, permitting the curmee the hope of rising above total condescension.

well the ferrets got off with a warning as they were not actually harnessed to the vehicle and were in a state of flux heading out of the village, a local plod said that as they had only nibbled the finger of the landlady no assault charges were pending, however they have been bound over to stay away from upnor as there is a fear that they may eat the locals or kidnap the children of said village to sell to the gypsies for winter food. crayford how ever falls outside of thier juristiction, so eating of locals and kidnapping of same is ok.

Romany man you will be pleased to know Larisa will not be pressing charges against the ferrets as they are cute!!like little kittens. Essex Girl, naughty forty and myself we,re up long hours sampling fruit vodka etc at my house so had a lazy day Sunday.
A lot of us Richard would like to turn back the clock and have the human juke boxes still around (Dave Bryant and Pete being top amongst them) but alas we can,t. Things are what we make them if you think negative of everything you may never be disappointed but then again you will never be happy either.

Its not far from Stroud station has the Crow flies but being has I aint a Bloody Crow it was considerably longer. Caw Caw Caw. about 40/50 mins longer.

I did stick me arm out for a lift but no one stopped to pick up so I gave up.

I was the first one to arrive at Otford and the first one to arrive at Upnor.
Its always nice to be the first and get that first pint down.

What I did not know was That there is a lower Upnor which is silly and a upper upnor which is insane especally if one does not know which one the Kings Arms is in and there,s no Buggerr to ask on route. so I took a chance and got it right.

Well - what a day!!!

What a great shame about the weather - seems that Mother Nature keeps trying to spoil a lot of the organised events recently!!!

Even so.......

The beer was VERY good as usual (well done Rob!!!) Also, well done Rob for the beer dispensing and for your superb effort at errecting the Market Awning to keep us dry, even though we all stayed inside.

The Food was great - thanks Ris for keeping us fed, and for the fun you gave us when you fell in love with the ferrets!!

As always, great musician skills and great singing - you all sounded great from where I was sitting in the main bar .......

........ and that leads me onto my main point (directed at Mr Bridge - and I have PM'd this to you in case you don't carry on reading threads after the event has happened).

Quote "Kev the Clogs, despite his recent post announcing re-arrival merely sat and drank. Now with the late Pete Hicks it used to be quite different - put beer in, music came out!"

I said all afternoon, to people that asked, that I wasn't going to sing because "it wasn't doing it for me!" You have often been in that frame of mind Richard. Both of us have experienced Margarine, who tries to impose her will on performers and singers - you've had it and so have I, and we both don't like it. And all of a sudden, You are doing exactly the same by saying that I "merely sat and drank"! If you re-read my post where I said that "I am back in the house", you will notice that I said that I would sing after suffering a period of stage fright/lack of confidence!! I will PUBLICALY state, that THAT is the REAL reason why I have not sung much this year in public, and that my response of "it's not doing it for me" is just a lame excuse to cover up the real fact. I thought you had picked up on that! To then go on and compare me to Pete Hicks is totally insensitive. If I have taken this the wrong way Richard, then sorry, but I FELT when I read your post that it was VERY much below you and directed at me personally!!

Romany Man - thanks for the "kev and i spent most of it proping up the bar, kev didnt feel up to singing, as is his perogative" - I knew I could rely on you to understand.

I love singing, I love folk. I just have, for whatever reason, a block/fear whatever at the moment, which I need to get through. It isn't going to help me being pressured into singing or commented about if I don't!

I'll see you all at Crayford on Sunday, and It is my intention to take part.

Regards

Kev

there there son, you just take it easy treacle likes you so it cant be all bad, as dilli didnt hear any durgy stuff perhaps we were in different pubs, they all look the same i suppose big wooden thing where beer and money cross flat thing that you land on unless you are outside in the dark and crash over a wall whilst chasing yobs, sorry but to me and this is my personal opinion , which i am entiteled to, is that the so called traditionalists seem to think folk is all singing of the slowest sadest old stuff they can find, where as when i go to different tans around the county and country, yes there are some real miserable songs where everyone just ups and walks away to look at the horses or see whats cooking, but there are far more jolly toe tappers where we all try and join in and have a laff, im bloody sure that back in the day, wwwwaaaayyyyyy back when folk was all there was ish, they had such miserable lives romantisists look away, they needed something to cheer themselves up, in the pub not make things worse, well thats my view, no doubt that attacks will be flying my way , but im entiteld to my opinion, and am entitled to voice it. im sorry if any one takes it personally but its not aimed at any one, now im going to hide behind seamus, and take to the road again, oh bugger i cant i aint allowed, see travellers and stopping places, oh to be free to roam.

Anyone is right to sing only when and if they feels like it, whatever their reasons. I will say I heard Kev sing during the last Sweeps (though I didn't know who he was then) and it gave me shivers. The good kind. No pressure, just an acknowledgement of ability. Even if I never hear him sing again, I know I have heard and it was good.

Now trying to remember what dirge-esque stuff I sang.

The Bundling Song - comedic, upbeat, with chorus
Drink Let's Drink - another upbeat with chorus
What Will We Do - slow and though message not negative still not a toe-tapper
Lowlands - DIRGE to the nth degree, but the joining in and harmonies were nice
Advice to the Ladies - comedic, upbeat, with chorus
Minstrel - DIRGE to a certain degree, especially the way I sing it.

I think that's it. So I broke even. Will try to do better in future, especially if we are stuck inside due to 'orrible weather. That stuff nature dished out Saturday required a jolly counterbalance.

Kev, I didn't think you were angling. As mentioned in this and other threads, I have stage fright issues meself. If Simon hadn't told me to sing on Saturday, I may never have. It is easier when the joint is active and noisy. I feel kind of invisible.

"Somerset" is an Appalachain or mountain or lap dulcimer. Pretty little thing, ain't she?

4 strings - Tuning is D (bass) A (middle) AA (two melody stirngs set close together). And easy as pie to pick out tunes by ear on just the melody strings. Simple chording can be had too. It is the timing of strumming that is throwing me. More practice required.

I know exactly how you feel Kev. I have been going through the same thing for the last 5 years or so. Prior to that I was a very confident performer, playing at rock jams andfolk clubs all over London. Nowadays I take my guitar to events with all intention of playing, but when it gets to my turn my mind blanks and I feel pressure beaming at me from others in the room. The last few times I attempted singing I've even blanked mid-song! Still I like the company and vibe on the kentish scene and who knows one day ...

Hmm, what "dirges" did I play

Ram of Derby - a mad gallop about a ram's huge knackers.
Knight William - long and traditional, nearly twice as fast as the YT used to do it, guitar line that even Brian Rodgers likes (that was a compliment that I cherished) and had people come in from the other bar to listen to.
Rigs of the Times - not a dance song, but hardly miserable.
Admiral Benbow - which I do almost as dance-trance.
Then I got complaints I had not killed enough people so I did Come Away Melinda. Well, lets see, it has been recorded by Uriah Heep.

You are in danger of alienating yourself RB, from a number of people. You can't tell me that you have never written or said something, only to do the opposite instead??!!

Much as it was my right to moan and make my views known about Broadstairs this year, it is also my right to sing or not sing if I so wish, and I will NOT be bullied by you or anybody else!!

03 Nov 08 - 08:16 PM (#2483953)
Subject: RE: Kings Arms Upnor Beer Fest 1/2nd Nov
From: Richard Bridge

And having said one thing, and then done the opposite - you do not expect to be called on it?

You have the general liberty to say one thing and do another. You don't have a right to be free of criticism if doing that. If I have so contradicted myself - then if I am called on it, it's a fair cop.

As you were free to criticise Broadstairs this year, so am I free to criticise the KA event - and one of the downsides was that a singer who would probably have benefitted the (somewhat shorthanded) session, and said that he would, didn't.

Subject: RE: Kings Arms Upnor Beer Fest 1/2nd Nov

Is this REALLY that important an issue for you Richard? There are far greater and more important issues in the world and our country that make your opinion of the KA event, (quite rightly your right to state your view), about as significant as a pubic hair on a toilet seat.

What has got into you lately? Where is all this negativity coming from?

Really!!??

SO defending myself after being criticised for NOT doing something and then being negatively compared to someone who I have a great respect for is "flying off the handle"?? Well if that is your definition of flying off the handle, then mia culpa.

What has suddenly given you the right to mount this assult? I obviously missed the moment when I pinned a target to my back and said "hey, have a pop!!" If you want to get personal, then the session could have been lifted by a capable musician/singer performing a few more uplifting songs.

If the cap fits Mr Bridge.....

I walked into a club one night ages ago. I had not even taken my guitar off me back let alone had a swallow of beer and I was asked if I wanted to start the night off. I said :Well let me get in the bloody door for God Sakes.

Another thing, I always has a discipline tune up my guitar before I play it. There,s nothing worse for me then trying to sing tuneful, with a guitar that sounds worse then I do. The amount of folk who get up on stage and start fiddling about with machaine heads twinging and twanging through a open mike.

I was at Blackheath the other week there were four blokes on stage they were only up for two numbers? They had stood about all night waiting for there slot and then when its time to go up they decide to tune there guitars. on stage infront of all and sundry.sounding like Alley cats Sh---ing in a alley. Its awlful.

Right so I like to get in have a beer tune my guitar and relax for a while.

I played at Blackheath the other week and having taken time to do all the things mentioned above I still went on stage nervous. so I shut me eyes and away I went suddenly I started to get (SERVIOUS DANCE trapped nerve. I think thats the way one spells it) in both legs below the knee. By the time I had finished i was more or less doing the Can Can.. But afterward folk said to me nice song one said I liked the fancy foot work. Silly A..e

Finally Hasling people and bringing them to the attenion of others does not help a nervous person like meself play.

I made it on Sunday too. I had paid for the B&B the night before, petrol, and meals, waited around as the sun had come out, etc. So if any has a right to moan I think I do. However, I understand and will not complain about things that cannot be controlled, like weather and other parties obligations, etc. I took me chances and I am still happy with even the little bit I got.

I should also say, I felt pretty pouty in the car on the way home Sunday afternoon. Didn't get my money's worth and I wasted my time kind of thing. Then I had a rethink. Saturday afternoon was miles better than staying home and doing ironing. Sunday morning was spent walking above the beach at Grain in the sparkling sunshine. Inspite of the industry, it was lovely.

Anyway what I am really trying to say is that people feel and express disappointment in different ways. Disappointment that weather was bad and the venue did not expect to and could not accommodate the live music, especially in the evening or next day. Disappointment that some people didn't sing or that music was not what was hoped for. Disappointment that some parties didn't show and some left early.

We all know that we are allowed to be disappointed. It is the expression of it that is the problem and really shouldn't be. As I said people express differently. Why can't it just be left at that?

Sorry. Even after escaping a couple of decades of dysfunctional relationship, I still think I should try to fix things. This mess is not my business I know, but wanted to say more after post above. Upon reading agian I thought might look like I was taking a side. I am not.   Well I am. The side of peace, tolerance and forgiveness.

Folk clubs and gathering are touchy places so manners and good conduct and a hearty round of applause is vital. Do you know I got accused of breaking wind at the Tudor Barn the other night why a well known club member was playing. whereby it was my chair that made the offending sound you should have seen the fuss that made with some folk. And has I pleaded my innocents it only made the situation worse.

I can vouch for the fact that all virgos, regardless of gender, suffer huge guilt if something is not spot on. We are big on self-blame.

Be that as it may, Ken, I generally find your company welcome (careful, that could be two compliments I've handed out this decade) but get vexed when told folk music is a dirge, and have half a verse, in one of the few song's I've written, about the theft of minor highways from the people. Last Knockholt My pants I got Mad in, which earlier were the same pants I was happy in were the same pants my Polish girl-friend took back to Poland with her by accident when she left hurriedly the next morning.leaving me one pair of clean pants to get mad in again. Anyway

They ended up in Krakov before she discovereed them at the bottom of her ruck sack.
She packed in hastetaking my clean pants and dirty pants with her and I ended up wearing the same pair of pants for the next three days,
Of coarse it was my fault.

She refused to wash em and bring em back so I had to buy new pants in Eltham which I did the Monday after I got back from Knockholt. Has I was going to M&S to buy them I was fortunate enough to find a Lorenzo Classical Guitar in the Greenwich and Bexley Hospice shop window which I brought for £2O IN MINT CONDITION.

What started as a thread about a Beer Fest in that beautiful Kent village of Upnor (morphed from a Cornish fishing village) degenerated into an Astological comparison and then a personal slanging match which would have been better confined to e-mails.

Seems to me, expectation is where it's at
Don't go to something, expecting ANYTHING

I was vaguely interested in the Crayford thing. Now I'm not so sure. I assumed it would be like a festival session - you turn up and the music/singing happens - no hidden agendas, egos and arsi-ness....

Maybe Crayford's not for me after all (or mudcat !)

Please don't judge any past or future event's potential on the basis of the contents of this thread. There are close long time friends in here and they are free to say what they like to each other.

I am very new to this group and I have to say they make the best music sessions I have experienced. Not saying the talent is not as quality in Essex (where I live). There is amazing talent in Essex. Just that this group adds a little something more to sessions by virtue of being so well known to each other and they are a very warm and welcoming bunch.

I advise you give Crayford a go. By your own statement

Whereas we in The Kent Maffia fear nothing but Margerine.
(and hearing impaired big cats of the spotted variety)

(and lawyers)

(and travellers)

(and buxom widows)

(and bloody foreigners)

(and over enthusiastic egg shakers)

(and ferrets)

Right, apart from Margerine, Leopards, lawyers, gypsies, dilligaf, foreigners, egg shakers and ferrets -

WE FEAR NOTHING.
