We know it as 'The beauty spot Glanlee' and we actually live in the Glanlee Valley. It's a great place! All the best John And now I live contentedly among these friends and neighbours Endowed with all the favours of good fortune and delight And I've found among the multitude a charming little creature She's full of admiration, she's my lovely Irish wife And when we meet at Sunday's noon, at that cozy spot called top-of-Coom Where songs and stories would illume the hearts of you and me Among that grand old company of lovely friends and neighbours We're never tired of praising that beauty spot Glenlea. |

It's one of those where I get into a panic as I reach the last verse - I keep thinking I'll forget it! More seriously, I suspect that, for all the wonders of Top-of-Coom, that last verse hangs together less well than the rest of what is, of course, a magnificent song. Regards |

As for the last verse, all I can say is that when it's sung in a packed bar at the top of coom, the roof nearly lifts off the place, and I'm sure we will hear it once or twice over the festival weekend. |

Looking forward to seeing you there on either side of the Cork/Kerry border (the border reputedly goes between the two bars). |

We are just hoping for kind weather for the weekend, the forecast isn't too bad, Our friends from Frankfurt have just arrived and having plenty of sessions to warm up. Lot's of the local young people are very excited to be participating and it should be a lot of fun. We think that the young performers talent showcase on Saturday and sunday are some of the nicest parts of the weekend, it's great to encourage the next generation of musicians. You can get a bus to Baile Bhúirne but you would need a taxi or something to get you to Top of Coom after that. B&Bs in Baile Bhúirne area. |

Also sunday afternoon session at the arbutus hotel killarney 1.00 till 4.00 with a great box player and character Jimmy Doyle and friends. both great fun and welcoming for visitors. If you drop us a line we could meet up for some tunes at top of coom. It's a great place for music/singing. All the best Have a great trip. PS if you are around in the spring we have a similar festival at Bernard Harringtons bar Glengarriff. It's the weekend after st patrick's day. |
