FSGW 2008 Getaway Lost and Found

If you've lost stuff, you can let us know here, or send me a private message.

Not too too much was left behind at this year's Getaway, although the forgotten concertina and melodeon were a nice answer to our requests that you leave behind better stuff for us! (For the record, the squeezeboxes have been brought home to their owner already.)

The booklet for Theresa Tooley was left behind and is currently in my possession. I await instruction on where to send it.

There's a bag of clothing, or perhaps it's laundry--we took a picture of the distinctive Hawaiian shirt and will post it if we haven't gotten a response first. One flashlight. Some mugs. Some reading glasses that might (or might not) have belonged to a previous group a the camp. A couple of auction items yet unclaimed (but the highest bids were non-Mudcatters).

And sleep--I lost too much sleep with three nights of almost-all-nighters. I'm off to take a well deserved nap. But it was worth it! Non-stop multiple music sessions amidst perfect weather by the bay from Friday dinner until Monday breakfast.

I found your sleep but have no intention of returning it. Finders keepers; loser weepers!

I will have instructions for returning Theresa's book when I am coherent.

We left a folding Coleman butterfly chair on the river side of the Retreat Center. Whoever found it should use it with a clear conscience since it is not the right sort of item to ship to our distant home.

"Using it" means use it yourself, give it away, sell it on Ebay or anything else that seems convenient and consistent with Green Values.

God bless the people who cleaned up after us. We forgot the chair, but not your efforts to make Getaway work.

Thanks.

Charlie, any chance you found a small zippered purse with lots of picks (replaceable) and a Wilkerson capo (not)? Is there a chance the camp might have found it after we left? I'm still looking here but I'm about unpacked without having found it.

If anyone found a cell phone it may belong to Becky Hartman-Berrier, she lost hers. I don't think she shows up here on mudcat but she was listed in the attendees or if found give her a call.

We forgot to retrieve the plastic container our pasta salad was in Friday night. Not a big deal though.

Lost and Found Updates:

The good news is that Becky Harman-Berrier found her cell phone before she left--it was on the far side of her mattress against the wall.

The LaPrelle's butterfly chair was probably left on the lawn, to become a part of West River's furniture collection, and has no doubt been used gratefully by subsequent campers there.

All found shampoo was recycled at the site, left behind for the use of the next group. The squeak from their clean hair is them saying thank you.

We did not find Ferrara's bag of picks, that I know of.

George Ward in an e-mail to me reports missing a Roland recorder: "Roland R-09 recorder (small, handheld). It was in a bright red fanny pack, along with a pair of headphones. It did get to the Getaway, and I think it got to my room, Retreat Center 108. I never did use it, don't remember taking it anywhere and didn't find it when we packed up Mon. morning."

Hi Charlie, I found my picks about 8 minutes ago! I re-checked all the bags I had already unpacked. The picks were tucked in a corner of one of them.

After looking for 4 days I was getting a little frantic. I wasn't getting the same tone and it was maddening. (Not to mention that Wilkerson capos are no longer made.)

I hadn't played much guitar for years, before I pulled out Dick's guitar to learn The Goldurned Wheel. I was so happy and excited to be playing again and then it was so frustrating, I just couldn't get the sound I wanted with the other picks.

Ouch, sorry to hear about George's recorder. Might the camp office have any kind of Lost and Found?

Though I wasn't at the Getaway, I'd be glad to take in the orphaned concertina, give it a good home and never let it be lonely for a good squeeze on a regular basis.

What a great weekend that was. I caught the worst cold ever from some "Typhoid Mary" but that will be gone long before the memories of the weekend.

My everlasting thanks to FSGW for your hospitality.

I lost lots of sleep; has anyone found it?

The question is: How in the world did I NOT get that cold, what with sleeping hardly at all, rooming with SINS, hanging out with Kendall, and flying cross country? I can hardly believe my luck!

Feel better soon, my virus-ridden friends.

Sure thing--little itsy bitsy ferns in tiny curved pots with undergrowth all about.

I brought home several serving bits and pieces, lost and found from the potluck, as well as the cold, which seems to have been well-shared. The weekend was well-worth the cold; it was lovely to see and hear so many old and new friends and relations! I lost sleep, too.....what is this about sheep?!

Dick, thanks for the info on the capos. I've bookmarked the page. I did find mine, too.

Hell, I started the weekend with laryngitis. Couldn't sing at all until about halfway home on Monday. Great weekend, anyway.
