Celtic Connections 2009

22 Oct 08 - 05:35 AM (#2472553)
Subject: Celtic Connections 2009
From: GUEST, Sminky

This is the provisional line-up for the 2009 event in Glasgow. Some major acts are still to be announced (Dick Gaughan and Archie Fisher, for instance, usually turn up somewhere). There is a rumour (and I emphasise rumour) that a certain Bob Dylan, big fan of Robert Burns, may be appearing.

Mariza & Show of Hands same night - shucks. If only they had been on two nights running it would have been very tempting - mind you may go to see Mariza anyway as it is my partner's birthday and she would love to see her.

Just been having a nosey on the Celtic Connections website.

The Auld Lang Syne event on 24th January at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, to mark 250 years since Robert Burns's birth, features:

Eddi Reader, Dick Gaughan, Karen Matheson, Michael Marra, Dougie MacLean, John McCusker, Phil Cunningham, Odetta

and some

"very special visitors from the worlds of rock and pop"

hmmmm.....who can they mean? Surely not Mr Zimmerman the Burns fan (it's only a rumour, remember).
