Hank Williams lost tapes

Coming on the air tomorrow (Saturday 10/25/08) on NPR's Weekend Edition:

Hank Williams' Lost Tapes: Rare And Resurfaced

"A new box-set collection of Williams' music captures a treasure trove of intimate and rare performances that few fans have heard. The Unreleased Recordings of Hank Williams includes performances from the Mother's Best Flower radio program, a show that Williams himself hosted in 1951. No matter how much the legend's songs have been played, studied, cried over and admired, unless you happened to be listening to the Nashville radio station WSM in the early '50s, it's likely that you haven't heard this Hank Williams before."

There are 3 full tracks available for listening or purchase at that link: Cool Water, Wait for the Light to Shine, and I'm so Lonesome I Could Cry.

At the time I'm posting this (Friday night, the 24th), the story is not available for listening, but I assume that it will be after it runs tomorrow.

Not the usual sort of thing for me, old country that is, but I love Hank Williams. It's more akin to folk song or country blues to my ears.

Thanks for the link.

Peace, Mooh.

That is great news. Learned to play the guitar because of him.

Are his songs from the 40s and early 50s now considered public domain,
even though we still credit him as the composer? Or is there some sort
of loop-hole to that rule?
I knew that the original copyright holder of a song has royalties
collected by their estate until the following New Years Day 50 years
after their passing (in North America), but since they are trying to
push it to 70 years so that Mickey Mouse can stay in copyright longer.
Are they doing something similar with Hanks music?
