27 Oct 08 - 07:07 AM (#2477092) Subject: 'Classic English folk songs' help needed From: GUEST,redmax If anyone reading this has the 2003 updated edition of the Penguin book I'd appreciate a little help. In Rod Stradling's Mustrad review he quoted a couple of Malcolm Douglas's comments on A. L. Lloyd, and I'd like to quote these in a paper I'm writing. The quotes are: 'some texts have been extensively re-written without comment' 'there have been times when I have roundly cursed Lloyd for his creativity' In order to credit Malcolm properly I need to be able to cite the page numbers for these comments, but I don't have access to a copy. Could someone have a quick look in the introduction and let me know which page(s) these appear on? I also need to quote the span of pages Malcolm's introduction covers. An unusual request, I know, but I'm hoping someone will be able to help. Thanks |

Obviously if you are going to refer to the book, even in passing, I really would recommend that you get hold of a copy so that you can place those remarks in proper context. The second printing is almost sold out, but there will be a third quite soon; I'm trying to cram some more information into the 'singers' section at the moment. Do feel free to contact me if that would be helpful. I'd also be interested to know what exactly you are covering in this paper, of course. |

There is a set of webpages at http://www.folk-network.com/miscellany/penguin/ which already contains some additions, corrections and supplementary material. Everything added to the third printing will be placed there, too. |
