Well! am I to be the first, My pressie arrived a week or so ago while I was at home on the IOW. Apologies to My SS for not getting round to say thank you before. You read my hint list carefully and came up with a very very lovely Nativity Scene carved in Olive Wood it is lovely.

Thank you very much, you are far too generous - it is already on display at home, much to my friend's surprise.

You OPENED IT??????????

OK - call me Old Fashioned ("you're old fashioned!") BUT what happened to opening Christmas presents at Christmas (or seasonal holiday as appropriate)?

Sheesh.

A warning to my SS - I'll be away a lot over Christmas so you probably won't hear from me until the New Year. But I know I'll love whatever you send and you're a most wonderful Santa.

Thanking you in advance,
I remain,
Yours,

And a warning to my Secret Santee...being a male-type person, I am genetically unable to begin my holiday shopping until December 24th, so Happy January to you, too.

Didn't mean to honestly, it was just a box addressed to me. I was waiting for 2 pairs of slippers and assumed they had been sent in 2 parcels! On the delivery note when I opened the box was hand written, I assume by the supplier 'from your Secret Santa'

If you knew me well you would know that in our house ALL presents wait until after lunch, washing up is done and we have a mug of tea, then we open presents, my daughter is just the same now that she is married and in her own home.

I rest my case M'Lud.

Well, ok. I'm sure your SS'a will understand.

Did you expect the 2 lefties to come in one, and righties in another? I understand that's how they used to ship consignments of leather boots during the war ...

Taaaaa Daaaaaa!

Ricky-ticky-tacky, Ricky-ticky-tacky,Ricky-ticky-tacky TAAAAAAAAA!

My pressie's HERE! Whoop! Whoop! Hurrah!

Thank you, Hen Santa! Diolch diolch diolch yn dalpe! (Thanks for the laff too - you've told me to be an invalid and wait for Christmas!)

I also have a sneaking suspicion that I just may have been SQUEAKED. The parcel is from East London and no identifier except the post code.   So - OK, Hen Santa MAY be a genuine Eastender OR has taken Liz up on her dastardly offer .... Hmmmmmm.

OK - so ... can I at least open the outside box that it came in? I'm being Very Good and haven't even gone that far yet. (I'm actually very good about opening pressies ON the appropriate day - but I may have an early Christmas and open this on the 13th. I have a flight to catch and cant take stuff if I don't know what's in it. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!)

Being Evil has its own rewards. Being 'Evil Offspring' has even more... Limpit got what her Santa Present this morning!!!

Well, I think that's what it was... could Santa confirm please? I got to it before she did so there was no wripping of wrappers and the secret will be kept until Christmas...

Unless there's perishables like chocolate in there that a caring mother needs to try before giving to her darling spawn? :D

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa, My Pressie has arrived
From: GUEST,Limpit's smug and smiling Secret Santa

Hullo Liz!

Santa is delighted to hear it's arrived safely.

Assuming it came from a certain business in a certain city with a memorable bridge, it is indeed from Limpit's Santa, who had it sent some time ago from a favourite shop in far-off climes. That shop does not, sadly, carry chocolate and Santa was not able to get to the shop in person to remedy the error, so Santa is sorry to say that no opportunity arose to slip rewards into the package for Limpit's mum. Je regrette...

By the way, unless customs has had its wicked way, that gift should be tastefully gift-wrapped under its outer postal shroud.

Best regards and I remain your faithful servant,
Santa

Right... Post office did not tamper with it, so not writing 'anthrax capsules, handle with care' was a good call.

Er.. I know lots of certain towns with certain bridges.. there's Bristol with the Severn Bridge... Hull, with the Humber Bridge - even London has a couple of reasonably well-known river crossings! But the parcel came from proper forrin parts so I'm presumng it's not Cardiff...

Thanks again, it will be placed in a position of secrecy and revealed at the appropriate time.

LTS and Limpit.

emmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

OK. I'm confuseder and confuseder.

A nice delivery man has just brought me a package which he says probably has wine in it, and the delivery card just has 'Cofion Annwyl' (Fond Regards, correctly phrased in Welsh) on it.

But ... I already have a package. So... ummm ...

Have I been double santa'd? I still believe in Santa; more than I believe in Secret Admirers anyway.

Please tell me the wine will go off and I have to open it now. I reckon it's arrived safely as there's nothing dripping out the bottom. (nicely boxed up with pretty silver ribbon, I might add.)

Ooooo. This is nice!

hmmmmm.

Oz post would never have allowed that - we have to show ID before we are allowed to send parcels overseas.

I wonder what would have happened if I wasn't at the address on the front - would it have been returned to the address on the back?

Either those elvi travelled far & wide or its another parcel! And not a Secret Santa parcel.

I got a card from my santa today, thank you santa, I know how you feel, just be glad that you are not married to a plumber whose customers decide not to pay up or think he can work a 28 hour day for discount! Think I shall have to take up busking too!
We are having a session at my house Christmas eve if you feel inclined to come..... ;0)

Well I know my Santa is in the UK (I strongly suspected that anyway) but the return address is LTS so that doesn't give me any hint as to where in the UK. Isle of Wight I think - help me out Santa, help me out fellow mudcatters. Leaving the last pressie for Christmas - maybe that will reveal the secret?????

Dear Lady Mary,

Oh phew! I'm glad it made it by the skin of its teeth. I was beginning to bite my nails here..

It's true that your present was redirected by SLAPPERS central in London - it's amazing what that woman will do for a few bites of chocolate, isn't it? Whitby is a clue, dear lady, but maybe not in the way you'd think.

Btw you can safely open the box, if you feel so inclined. All items stored within are individually giftwrapped, so there's no danger of you opening more than what you want to. Opening on Christmas Eve would be well in tune with the prevailing traditions where I hail from, so feel free to dive in by then, if you want to. That Leadfingers can teach you diving, if you don't know how to go about it. I hear stories, you know, I have my informants around the place.. Mwahahaha......

Anyway, have an enjoyable Christmas and a cracking New Year, and I do hope you'll be happy with the little selection I found for you. I've almost avoided chocolates, but unless SLAPPERS central customs authorities have impounded them on a trumped up charge, there should be a teeny weeny taster of Christmas goodies traditional to my neck of the woods.

All the best,

MXG

To my still anonymous Santa --

Package arrived in yesterday's post -- and I HAD to open it in the car (Curmudgeon was driving so I could do that more or less safely) which was made complicated by bulky winter attire, car on curvy road, etcet etcet.

Lovely stuff! Flamingo cross-stitch (Flamingoes? Moi?!?), earrings(es), burgundy velvet stole/scarf... Thank you!

Plus the threat, I mean, promise of more to come by New Year's. Hmmm...now THAT's a hint. Narrows it down to...the people I'd already been suspecting.

Argh!!!!

Happy Christmas! And thank you!

Mixed reviews in the apple (not bad, but we didn't probably choose the best dish with it) but thumbs up on the blueberry. Wonderful with sweet creamy dessert dishes. I have a favorite sweet yogurt and strawberry dish that went beautifully with it.

"Hey lookit that weird dog"

"Whassit then"
"Deer, moose maybe?"
"Don't get many of them in Sussex."

Gifts well worth waiting for!!!

The Simon's Cat book that was on my list and I hadn't gotten from anyone else (good thing!), notepaper made from elephant poop (no shit, it's cool!), a scallop puppet (blue eyes and all -- squid, alas, were unavailable but the scallop is lovely), "Why Is Daddy Wearing a Dress?" postcards of embarrassing to ask questions illustrated with cute baby animals, Maine-made lavender soap (that not only smells wonderful, but has exceptionally rich lather) and a really neat ceramic cat ornament.

WEll a very anonymous parcel has just arrived, very welcome. It contains three books, one on Doncaster, two on Askern which appears to be a village near Doncaster. Now, I've put on my thinking cap, put myself in Sherlock Holmes mode, and come to the following conclusaion: I think my Secret Santa is probably from the village of Askern near Doncater. More than that I couldn't really say: probably a rather dour Yorkshire person, as there are no chocalate goodies, litle amuse-bouches, miniature bottles of whisky such as more frivolous Mudcat S Santas enclose(eg ones from Lancahire or other fun loving places). Also, as the books contain my favourite sort of industrial coal/canal sort of stuff, I would guess it is from a male type of person. Women are not generally interested in books about Tom Puddings and Sheffield keels(though this is obviously a bit of a generalisation, I could be wrong).
If the said person were to identify him(her)self, I would like to say thank you. I still haven't identified my 2008 Santa!

Dear Greg

I'm glad your pressie finally turned up. It had got put on a shelf and then mislaid until we were doing a house 'scoopage' for someone coming.

You are entitled to One and a half points for your guesses.

Yes I live NEAR Askern but not IN Askern. I hope I am not dour - I'd soon be in trouble with my friends if I was, but I AM Yorkshire. However you didn't get the 'sillies' as I couldn't tell from your answers just what sort of things you would appreciate eg no smellies, jewellery, toys etc. I love canals and their history, also info about the mines - have you ever been to Cap House Collery, well worth a visit. I am FEMALE!

I will give you a further clue to work on:- You nearly got an additional book/pressie from Bangor which is where my offspring is.

Hugs
xxxxx

One understands that the Illustrious Ms Jacqui has earned Personal Recognition for her Inimitable and Imaginative Character yet said Personal Recognition is, to date, not yet Forthcoming. One further understands that Ms Jacqui has a case of the highly contagious SantaPleaseDon'tIgnorePoorLittleMeBlues (or she has a case of The Sniffles...hard to tell which with that delightful accent, of course.)

In full Consideration of the Needs of the Lady in question and of the Unavoidably Delayed Delivery of Appropriate Personal Recognition by the Harried Santa Previously Assigned to this Delightful Duty (and to Whom we send Best Wishes for a Full Resolution of the Issues by which Santa's delivery has currently and reluctantly been Interrupted;)

BE IT KNOWN that the Questionable Lady...errr...The Lady in Question shall indeed have her Gift needs met forthwith by the Santa's Little Helper Team.

Yours in Cogitation and Cooperation,

SLHT

Yaaaeeeee! I got my present! I have a feeling that I can identify at least one of the senders - this package has been so carefully personalised.

There is some beautiful yarn (fingers now itching to start working with it) and a couple of products to repel mosquitoes, very timely as the Mossie season will soon be starting.

Gifts well worth waiting for and a big thank you to Santa's Little Helpers, whoever they may be.

Jacqui gets her package in April--is there any embroidery thread in there? Then you could say April is the crewelest month . . .

I'll get my hat.

Well my Secret Santa's identity might be just coming to light. She says, as a hint, that she has an offspring in Bangor. That meant nothing to me in terms of people I've noticed on Mudcat, so I did the cheat's way out and resorted to Google. And it didsn't take long. I believe her name is Pip Freeman, and I thank her very heartily for some very informative and interesting presents, just the sort of thing I like.
