It is referencing the first conviction of a Canadian citizen under Canada's anti-terrorism legislation. This particular jihadist was associated with the terrorists who perpetrated the London bombings but was acquitted of that charge due to lack of evidence directly linking him to the plot but was convicted on seven other terrorism associated charges. He will be sentenced later this month. Letter To A Young Jihadi I don't know how long the link will remain active for non subscribers so if you want to read it I would suggest doing so forthwith. |

Have a look at what is happining in Europe in 1429 (Hint - Joan of Arc) and then in the hundred years following (Hint - reformation) |

01 Nov 08 - 07:09 AM (#2481497) Subject: RE: BS: Letter To A Young Jihadi From: Paul Burke It makes the common error that the jihad is about religion. Islam is only the framework (a successful one so far in motivating people) that opposition to western exploitation moulds itself around. In the 50s and 60s, it was communism, in the 70s maoism. Think of a suicide bomber as one who "lays down his life for his friends" (John 15:13). |

01 Nov 08 - 07:16 PM (#2481987) Subject: RE: BS: Letter To A Young Jihadi From: Little Hawk The Jihad is about the negative reaction of subject peoples to economic colonialism...with religion used as a handy motivator for the fighters (on both sides). It's about the war between the rich and the poor. It's about the war between the haves and have-nots. It's about the uses of naked power, and reactions to same. |
