01 Nov 08 - 06:50 PM (#2481970) Subject: Lyr Req: Johnny on the Chute From: lumbago I have a lyric dating from 1893 in Australia, attributed as a modification to "Johnny on the Chute". It could well be that "chute" should be "shoot" or similar. It could also refer to a laborer who handled a chute (like to fill a steam engine coal hopper", or a grain chute on a wheat silo, or similar. Any help with tracing down similar lyrics would assist me - thanks. |

I will take him up to town, And we'll go to Captain Boynton's, and they'll water-chute us down!" CHORUS: Oh! Jimmy on the chute, boys; won't we have a day Going out with Grandma? Granny's getting gay! Down in half a slap-bang, wet from top to toe, That's the way they chute 'em at the "water-show!" 2.
