03 Nov 08 - 09:26 AM (#2483233) Subject: Greenwich Council promoting folk & dance From: GUEST,woodsie The folkmob have been invited by Jonathan Bangs directorate of culture and community services, to paticipate in a folk music and dance celebration at The Tudor Barn on Friday 21st November. There will be several morris sides also taking part including Motley Morris and The Kent Corkers. Well, we've all moaned in the past about how the local council does very little to support English Culture and Heritage. So make sure that you put this date in your diary and show them that there is a strong following for this stuff and hopefully there will be more in the future! We are meeting the council on thursday so hopefuly I can give some more setails of this event. |

Is there any better idea of whether this is dance only or wheter there is suposed to be a sing (or where we will be able to buy beer)? Oh, and when it starts and finishes? |

That information was given to me at a meeting I attended at the town hall earlier in the year, which was also attended by about 4 coucillors and representatives from their legal department. This was when we were trying to secure the future of folkmob in the building. |

He would like to get in two barrels of beer but he has to get the go ahead from the catering manager, he said they may just want to sell bottled beer and wine. Unfortunately Kent Korkers (sorry I spelt that wrong before) aren't able to make it but Wadard Morris Men are coming and will perform a Mummers play as well as dancing along with Motley Morris, and of course Folkmob will be doing their bit so It should be a good evening. |

19 Nov 08 - 01:50 PM (#2497780) Subject: RE: Greenwich Council promoting folk & dance From: GUEST,woodsie just a bit more information about this Friday at the Tudor Barn, there will be 72 pints of Dartford Wobbler 4.3% dark and strong, 72 pints Gravesend Guzzler 3.7% hop flavored and light, 36 pints Kentish gold 4.1% light and medium strength, it's being sold at £2.00 a pint, there will also be bottled lager and wine and in the interval free mulled wine and mince pies. Unfortunately it now has to end at 11pm instead of midnight. please support this eveny as it's not often that the local council bends to our demands even supplying real ale at reasonable prices. This could even become a regular event. |
