Other half (had cold first) can sleep through my very audible symptoms, but will come looking if gone too long. It is a hangover from Andie's passing. He checks to see that I am OK. Been up since 3:40 am, now 8:30 am. Think I will risk some cold meds and sleep when he is awake and can make emergency call if I have a reaction. I still don't get the kangaroo thing? And still mulling over ways to make next year's Knockholts. I may save up so we can hire a camper van just for the Friday evening thru Sunday bit. 2010, we will have newer car and caravan. Yippeee! |

He musn't go outside in wet and windy weather, so today he's a couch potato refining his aimlessly mooching about indoors skills. Favourite character Swedish Chef (didn't google once have a Swedish chef translator). Don't remember much about Laugh In except being yelled at for sneaking down to basement (family room) when I was supposed to be in bed, to watch it. I remember the characters but not the actual jokes. Judy Carne, Goldie Hawn, Artie Johnson, Joanne Worley, Ruth Buzzy, Henry Gibson, Gary Owen and of course Rowan and Martin, there was big goofy blonde guy too. Remember Fickle Finger of Fate and I had a button/badge that said "You bet your sweet bippie" which I had to hide from my Dad. Not appropriate for a 9 to 10 year old to be sporting. Ahhh memories. |
17 Nov 08 - 01:35 PM (#2495976) Subject: RE: Knockholt 2009 dates From: Girl Friday Of course it was Muppets not Laugh In.... but in Laugh In I remember the running jokes like the German soldier hiding behind an aspidestra "Very Interesting....but stupid"... after a sketch or a joke. Goldie Hawn either was very young or she had loads of facelifts through her film career, or , most likely, both. I was around 16 and able to watch with my parents. We all loved it ! Never worked out what a bippie actually was! There was another Pig Soap in the Muppets, a hospital drama. |

The mandolin was a very significant instrument in the earlier days of blues. Here's an extract from a mandolin blues website: "Although little-heard on commercial recordings after the 1940s, the mandolin played a significant role in the history of blues, with its first use probably dating back as far as that of the more familiar guitar. Throughout the '20s and '30s, the distinctive sound of this little instrument could be heard throughout the South and showed up on several recordings. A number of musicians continued to play and perform blues on the mandolin into the '60s . Today there is raising a new interest in the Mandolin Blues with some very cool mandolin players ( well actually guitar players with cool mandolin skills )." Good luck with it, mate! |

18 Nov 08 - 03:21 PM (#2497001) Subject: RE: Knockholt 2009 dates From: GUEST,Girl Friday sans cookie Now a poem by Steve O'Kane for Trevor... sheep related. There once was a rather large Leopard, who said to a very small shepherd; "I'm partial to Spam, but I'd rather have Lamb, not to play with... but salted and peppered". The shepherd said "don't be too hasty; I know that my Lamb's rather tasty, but it's mostly all fat; (that's not good for a cat,) think of what it might do to your waisty" The leopard, (whose first name was Trevor) said "Don't you start tryin' to be clever, I can eat all I wish; put it there on my dish, and I'll still be as light as a fevver!" Well, the Leopard he carried on eating, (despite the accompanying bleating!) at the Roadkill Cafe he was munching all day; (a belch was his favourite greeting) He'd roll up a fag with some 'baccy, it might have been normal... or whacky, but it all made his blood, somewhat sticky...(like mud) .....(...and it's hard to pump blood when it's tacky.) So one day his heart said "I'm tired. this isn't the reason I'm hired!" I don't mind a job but it's making me sob.. I could rest if the bugger expired!" So by way of a delicate warning, the heart had a rest-break next morning; when the Leopard came to, he was there in the zoo in the birthday suit spots he was born in! The vets say he ought to get better, but he must heed their words to the letter, so to help him to sleep, he no longer counts sheep! but he cheats, and counts cheeses like Feta! Tune anyone? |

I have located the owners of Knockholt mine and they said to contact them nearer the time and they will arrange a day time visit, which will not interfere with any music sessions I stress that this visit is not for the faint heated or those with walking difficulties or anyone who is remotely scared of the dark. Parafin lamps on loan from Chislehurst caves will be on offer and anyone who has a torch bring it along. we will be shown around by the owner and the tour should last about an hour, No money required. Dress to go down a mine. and wellie boots or hiking boots a deffinate. If no one wishes to go I go on me own I book it for the Saturday afternoon about 2,30. |

Due to Health and Safety Regs my request has been turned down Has they can only entertain Caving Clubs and Organisation like K.U.R.G. KENT UNDERGROUN RESEARCH GROUP, Due to P.L.I Public liability insurance. Its a shame that this Nanny state we all live these days prevents folk from a pleasent afternoon of history and a wander round a stunning old mine. I will try to arrange a trip to Chislehurst Caves where there is no such par-larva due to fact that CHISLEHURST CAVES HAVE THERE OWN VISITORS P.L.I. A alturnative date will have to be made for a such a tour. Sorry folks. |

29 Dec 08 - 01:10 PM (#2526737) Subject: RE: Knockholt 2009 dates From: GUEST,Pete the hat considering the floods and gales we had September last it might be a good idea in June to have the Marquee where it was last September but turned sideways on to prevent great gusts entering the tent. That way we wont have to have the Par-larva and rigmorole of putting up a makeshift enterence shelter which blew down on top of me the second it was put up. sideways on will prevent gusts (if there are any in June) entering the tent and blowing everything over, like my beer.it will make it less drafty and hench warmer for the folk and less dangerous.
