The festival is on this weekend. Is anybody going?

My son, Rob, will be manning (personing?) a booth for us at Clearwater again this year. We can't make it, but Rob will have a great variety of CDs from Rounder, Shanachie, Yazoo, etc., as well as our own Folk-Legacy stuff. Check it out! Look for the Folk-Legacy quilted banner.

I'll be there. And I might be singing with Pete again if I'm really lucky.

Just back from the festival. Beautiful day, great music! We heard Tom Paxton, Arlo Guthrie, Christine Lavin, Tom Chapin, Country Joe MacDonald (& did the f**k cheer w/ him!), Pete Seeger & others. Wonderful variety. Stopped by Folk Legacy. Said hi to Rob & finally picked up cd's by David Paton & Rick Fielding. We wore our Mudcat teeshirts all day, scanning the crowds, but didn't spot any Mudcatters. Rob said Easy Rider had dropped by. Sorry we missed you, Matthew B. Hope to see some of you next weekend at Old Songs.

love,

I was at the Clearwater Hudson River Revival Festival, Saturday. The only Blues player performing was John Jackson. I've never heard of him, but he was billed as playing 'Piedmont Blues', so I went to have a look-see. He played ''Louis Collins'', which he credited to MJH, ''West Coast Rag'', credited to Blind Blake, A few other familiar songs, and a few of his own. I thought he was a pretty good fingerpicker.

Has anybod here seen or heard of him? What can you tell us about him?

BTW: Tom Paxton was a lot of fun. Country Joe McDonald did his ''F**K'' cheer, as usual, and Arlo Guthrie didn't play ''Alice's Restaurant''. I had a talk with Pete Seeger, who turns 81 next week, about his electric pickup truck, and I talked with Allan Block, the sandal maker and father of Rory Block. What a blast from the past. I haven't seen him since the last time I bought sandals from him, at his shop in Greenwich Village, back in the sixties!

I stopped by the Folk-Legacy booth and sent my regards to Sandy Paton, but I searched far and wide and didn't see any Mudcat Tee shirts. Oh well!

All in all, a nice day, filled with good music and memories.

EZR,

How can Pete Seeger turn 81 next week, when he just turned 80 last month? (I guess we age more quickly as we get older, huh?)

Well...they said SOMETHING about him turning 80 or 81, over the PA system.
