Bash Street Band

I went to a Ceilidh on Saturday night, and saw an excellent band, playing decent music at an acceptable volume, with a caller who knew what she was doing, and coped well with a mixed group of mainly inexperienced dancers.

There are some of their tunes available for free download on their web site Bash Street Band

When I lived in Leicester about 24 years ago, they were the Bash Street KIDS. Good to see they are still going strong - even if a little older.

Back in the 1980s (oh lord I feel old) we wanted to form a band and call it the Bash Street Kids. Perhaps foolishly we contacted DC Thompson (publishers of the Beano) to ask if we could use the name - they turned us down flat. So maybe it wasn't just age that caught up with this band?

Sorry Fat B****rd I didn't realise it was against your ethos to praise people on Mudcat,
