It would truly be lovely -- but Sunday night is an absolute impossibility.

Deep sigh.

Nope. 5 a.m. comes way too early for both Tom and me. And Monday is a nutzoid day where I'm alone in the shop with way too many people coming in (and calling) the same time for one person.

If I had two days off in succession, it might not be so bad.

Lisa is one of the very finest, most natural and wisest voices to emerge following the 1960s folk boom. She took a great deal of time to research and gather an impressive and unique repetoire. She is something really special and I love her way of singing.

I'm very sorry that I don't live in or near Portland because I'd love to hear her sing again... and I will, soon, somewhere else. If you can make this gig, don't miss it.

All the best,
Dan

A great evening for a small but select group.

Lisa was wonderful and so was Charlie - it was a real treat to have them with us.

Good food, good company - lovely songs from Deb and Maeve, what could be better!

Such a lovely evening! Thank you each one for your own contribution of loveliness. I loved Lisa's songs (and she's promised me one of them!) and Charlie's too. Kendall's stories and jokes, Kendall and Jacqui together, Deb Cowan's beautiful singing, wonderful food, and the welcoming host and hostess...Ahhhhh! I missed Sinsull, ranger1, Tom & Linn, Jeri, and the rest of the usual suspects, but such a luxury to have all that music just for us!

The highway speed limit was 45 where it usually is 65 mph. It was slick enough with rain and sleet on snow that most folks even slowed down to that rate. It only took me 2 1/2 hours to get home, and only the last 13 miles were white-knuckled.

I am thankful for music, good company, tasty food, and safe arrival at our warm home where my True Love awaits.

What a rare evening-- other musicians, take note-- rarely have I performed in a house concert that was such a, well, house concert. I would not expect the experience to be duplicated again. Yes it was small, and we knew in advance that it would be. I had prepared an evening of music from Northern New England and the maritimes-- and two of my "audience" were Debra Cowan and Kendall Morse, both of whom live and breathe New England on a steady basis, while I have to revert to old family memories and myth-making. I was so touched to be singing for them -- and also for Jacqui, the organizational whiz who presented me with a gorgeous crocheted shawl, not even knowing it was my birthday. What I was unprepared for was the gorgeous house, warm hosting, and fabulous cooking superintended by Deborah and Tom Coward.

There are always advantages to a small audience for my kind of music,. In this case, there was a sit down pot luck which made me think that Mainers do nothing by cook all day long. We were utterly flexible-- Kendall would pop up with a story on command, Maeve would sing choruses with a voice so pure I found myself begging her for a song later in the evening. Sure enough, it made sense to trim set two and start sharing songs -- which we did over wine, tea, and home baked cakes and pies around a big rectangular table that would have made the Copper family proud.

Charlie finally had a chance and the time to sing a few songs himself and I was truly proud of my favorite roadie....

If there ever was an evening that made me happy with sharing my music outside home turf, this was it.

Sorry I missed it-- I had to take Ben back to school in western Mass. and then back to a chorale meeting. We were doing 35 on I91, and it was pretty scary at times. There were some real knuckleheads out there. oy!

Thank you, Deb/trubrit and Tom, for your hospitality.
