'Jacky Tar' and 'Under Milk Wood'

In the classic radio recording of "Under Milk Wood" (with Richard Burton et al), the song sung by the Polly Garter character about Little Willie Wee seems very similar to the tune "Jacky Tar". I was having a crack at Jacky Tar on the fiddle earlier on and thought, "Sounds like...". Any comments?

Been much discussed on Mudcat, previous thread here. There is a blue clicky in one of the posts in this thread, to another thread by Dave Bryant. Also concerning this lovely song.

Nothing about the possible Jacky Tar connection in those threads, mind.

As you say - nil on Jacky Tar in that thread! Well, I'll stick to my thesis for the moment that the song sung by Polly in the original radio production fits Jacky Tar quite well...

Great tune - whatever!
