I'm gonna wash my neck, probably. I'm not gonna be here for Tgiving, I'm gonna be at a friend's house in Indiana and SHE gets to do the cleaning!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Back home agin in Indiana
In the cotton fields all day.
Where the candle light
Is shining bright
On the Ohio's banks
Far away.

At least I think it might go something like that maybe.

We'll be doing most of it tomorrow. Today I am reading my granddad's poems at a cowboy poetry gathering I just found out about, yesterday!

We've invited our kids and their families over for Tksgiving and my brother, and I've promised to break out my grandma's wedding china...which means there will lots of clean-up afterwards, too!

Yep - cleaning today...and raking leaves, too.

Count me in. Thanksgiving is going to be at another house in the community -- our table and our kitchen (the room it sits in) being too small to accommodate all 20 of us -- but now's a great time to get an early start on cleaning for Christmas!!

How I envy those for whom whipping the house into shape takes one day! With me, it's a month, at least...

We cleaned all we needed to for a "master class" by Irish singer Donal McGuire several days ago. The place looks almost passable for now.

We are going to friends' place for Thanksgiving...eat, chat & sing...

I'm spackling and painting the front bathroom, and putting up some crown molding, and fixing the toilet (putting all new innards in and then putting the tank back on). Then I'm completely gutting the two guest bedrooms, spackling and painting them, and putting up crown molding in those rooms. Then moving all of our office stuff out of the living room and putting it all in the two guest rooms and putting living room stuff in the living room. Then cleaning the rest of the house and painting the cabinets in the kitchen and doing some touch up work (spackling where needed and touching up the paint) in the living room and kitchen. This won't be done by Thanksgiving, but I need to have it done before Christmas. The garden needs a lot of work, too, but I don't know if I'll have time to get to that. Also, I need to scrape and paint (and replace some boards) on the front and side porches, but that can wait until after Christmas if necessary.

Well, C, it ain't a one-day thing for us, either... Today it is the office and our bedroom... That is one day... Tomorrow it is the greatroom and guestroom... Then Monday, it's the bathrooms and whatever last minute stuff that didn't get done before the gang is here on Tuesday...

Of all the stuff I hate the most it's dustin'... The P-Vine keeps everything there is to keep in the way of nic-nacs and memoribilia on top of her "three, yes three" dressers and one desk... Dusting them takes about 3 hours start to finish... I'm half way thru it...

(Well, Boberdz, if it's the P-Vines stuff then why doesn't she dust 'um????)

Hahahahahaha...

I cleaned the snow away from the doors of the houses at 5:30AM... and at 6:30 and at 7:15 and at 8:00 and at 9:00 and at 10:00 and I snowblowed enough to be able to get my 4X4 F150 pickup truck onto the street at 11:30. The drifts are arse deep!

Cleanin'? Nah. We'll be warmin' the asphalt on Interstate 10 on Thanksgiving Day. We'll be mixing a T'Day visit with my folks with hawkin' pottery at a weekend art show in St. Augustine.

My wife's family usually plans some sort of early Thanksgiving deal if we're gonna be out of town on Thanksgiving Day, but I haven't heard any mention of it. If something does get thrown out at the last minute, it better be happenin' at one of her kids' houses, not mine. I've got too many pots to glaze and fire to be wastin' time dustin' and cleanin'.

I'll be shovelling out the house tomorrow (Sunday) and Tuesday -- my days off.

Mostly just finding table space and chair space and doing a little bit of neatifying and probably vacuuming (I just love to see the rugs change color) and de-cobwebbing.

Jeri's coming over for Thanksgiving and she's better than family and I don't have to go all crazy making the house look like "House & Garden" when we live much more like "Mother Earth News".

Oh, and maybe making sure the pre-dinner margaritas are mixed.

Looking forward to it, Linn. I've never cooked a turkey. One year, I got motivated and made Cornish game hens. Then there was the chicken Tandoori.

I don't care about cat hair and cobwebs, but you know that. Just give me a some room and a pile of Tom's wonderful cooking, preceded by your margaritas, and I'm happy.

It's freezing here, but no snow, thank goodness.

Yeah, I'll be taking a bath a week or so before. I try to do that every year. A few years I had a bad flu and couldn't smell how much I needed to do that---and I think it was 2 and a half years until the next one.

That was the year Carol and I almost split up. One day I yelled at her, "Please leave---and never darken my bathtub again!"

So she took her ring, and she left!

She took the ring from the bathtub, Art?

We're someone else's guests for TG this year, and Christmas will be low key, but tomorrow, we start a major overhaul to prepare for guests for the Inauguration--

Yup. Clearing out counter space in the kitchen and rearranging furniture in the dining room and living room so I can set up extra tables. I've been doing some scrubbing in the hall bathroom so I don't have to do much in there right before the event.

Yard work also, so the house looks nice from the outside for arriving guests.

And I DO desperately need to do something with the pile o' boxes, etc. holding stuff to be sold/Freecycled/whatever and get them out of the living room and OFF THE COUCH so we can have room for a Christmas tree.

I'm actually HAVING Christmas this year, dammit!

(No broken bones, please God, no broken bones!)

Okay, no more ankle deep dust (I'm exagerating, but the rug DOES change colors when I vacuum) or cobwebs in computer room. Stuff piled in middle of the living room now back in cellar where it belongs.

Margaritas mixed.

Tom's sort of cleared off his side of the table. Jeri, we'll find a chair for you yet!

(But the margaritas are mixed.)

Did I tell you the margaritas are mixed?
