A good evening (I stayed 'til half time & didn't manage to get out before they sold the raffle tickets!)
A couple from The Forest folk club started the evening with David Kilpatrick as the main guest. An excellent entertainer.
Total numbers about 25 in a room that would have been crowded if we'd hit 40.

For those who insist on knowing, bar served Brains Bitter & Batemans XXXX. (Batemans was at £2.20 a pint!)

Well worth a visit.
Next month, (Jan 11th) is a 'singers night'

Hi Nigel.
A couple of things. Thanks for spreading the word about Dinas Powys Folk Club. Just a small point. It seems there are a number of Forest Folk Clubs, the one that Ian Harvey and Jan Vasey came from is the one in The Forest Of Dean. http://www.forestfolkclub.com/index.htm

You won 2nd prize in the raffle, too...

See you there on 11th.

Best wishes
Chris

Sorry I should have made it clear this link is to the Forest of Dean Folk Club.
This in itself is not a bad thing - but not much indication of where the new club is!

Sort of South west of Cardiff near Penarth, should do for now.
Just Google Dinas Powys.

Yes, thanks Nigel for bumping this thread and reminding everyone.
It will be our first "singers" night. Being a new club we don't, as yet, have a regular group of singers that I know will come along and do a few songs. So, it's all a bit scary really!!
To that end, I would ask anyone in the area who would like to play to please get in touch. (Contact details on the website - address upthread).
I will be twisting a few arms over the next couple of days. Be warned...

Club Organiser

PS
Nigel, don't forget your raffle prize from last time. My other half is beginning to eye up the box of chocolates and I'm finding it increasingly difficult to find new places to hide them.

Chris
I'll be there, and hoping to sing. (Put me on early if you're not sure how many you've got)
My wife's looking forward to the chocolates. (As I recall they're Guylien & I don't eat nuts!)

See you Sunday

Cheers
Nigel

How'd it go?
We had fully intended to be there, but we've had such a busy weekend, and ditto the week ahead that a night in was inevitable. We'll try next time.

Good evening, I had to rush off just before the finish to catch the last train out of Dinas Powys.
20-25 people there most of the evening, mostly performers with a good mix.
I'll have a few new flyers at the Beeb this week

Cheers
Nigel

Just a reminder that our guest singer this coming Sunday (1st Feb) is Beck Sián. A fascinating evening is guaranteed.

By the way, thanks to everyone who came along and sang at our first singers night a couple of weeks ago. You helped to make it a very enjoyable event.

Hope to see you all there on Sunday.

Best wishes

And yet another bump up for this thread - just to let you know that we are meeting this Sunday (2nd August) and it is a singers and residents night with a Summer flavour.
Looking at the rain pouring down outside at the moment, the "Summer" flavour is more in hope than certainty.

See you there

Time for another bump!
Dinas Powys Folk Club is meeting this coming Sunday, 4th October.
It's at the usual place and time
9-11pm Cross Keys Inn

This month it's an Autumn "Themed" evening.
As well as the usual raffle, there will be a prize for the best song (cover or original) that has an autumnal theme or connection. The connection can be as obscure as you wish so long as you can manage to explain it to the voters!
Everyone welcome.

No, it's organiser decided to fold it a while back.

That's the problem when anything stops happening, there's no impetus to market the fact.
