The seminar is one of the premier traditional song events in Ireland, and attracts many fine singers from Scotland, England, Wales and North America, as well as from the local area and all other parts of Ireland. Lots of new singers and older songs since I was last there, about 5 years ago. About 150 participants from a wide range of traditions ensured a fantastic range of songs in a relaxed atmosphere with a minimum of formal push-and-shove; large sessions spawning smaller, more intimate sessions; fresh air by the bucketful in the beautiful Donegal landscape. If your main interest is in unaccompanied singing, then you really should get to this festival at least once. Regards p.s. a few Mudcatters in attendance, as ever. |
