For all you folks out there who are fans of Emily & Hazel Askew they can be seen in Southport tomorrow night (Sun 14th Dec) at the Bothy Folk Club. See the website for details.
Cheers
Les

Hmmmmm. Pity I'll miss that. I was in Liverpool for a few days this week, spent a day in Southport checking out bookshops! Noticed ads for some folk gigs alright.

Regards

For its size, Southport does very well for bookshops with three antiquarian shops in the town centre - and a Waterstones, W.H.Smith,three remainder(discount)book shops and one charity shop devoted entirely to books(and cds/records).

No. Southport, Merseyside. I can concur about the bookshops.

Yeah - picked up a nice clean copy of Karl Dallas's The Cruel Wars and two useful birdwatching books. Had to resist the temptation to splurge on some more serious antiquarian stuff, alright!

Martin, when you were here I trust you had time to do some birding? Little Egrets are getting common at marshside.

Little egrets pale into insignificance (sorry!) compared to the Little Blue Heron we had at Letterfrack, about an hour's drive from me, some weeks back! I had great fun explaining to people that it wasn't really "Little", definitely wasn't "blue" and you could argue the toss for claiming it wasn't really a heron but an egret!

Little Egrets? Bookshops?? What about the Askew Sisters (alleged subject of the thread)? Go and see them, they are excellent.
