I AM 64, have been for 4 months now, and am just beginning to realise that age creeps up slowly but precisely. The sciatica and the short sight, the years of living with asthma are taking more of a toll these days. However, on the bright side, I have three tests at the start of the day which, if I pass them, reassure me that the day could be quite good. The prerequisite test is, of course, actually waking up but, on the assumption that I manage to do this, my 3 tests are: 1. Getting into my underpants* without them being inside out 2. Getting into my underpants* without them being back to front 3. Getting into my underpants* without both legs being in one hole If I pass all these tests - and most days I do - then I've had a good start to the day. *underpants - no doubt some kindly lexicographer or philologist from across the Pond will supply the correct US equivalent of underpants. |

In the US men's underpants are either boxers or briefs or a thong. What's your poison? 14 years to go before I hit 64. My tests for a (potentially) good day are: Ability to get straight out of bed and walk around without canes or screaming pain. Get my bra and my socks on all by myself. (god what and image) Brush and braid my hair without assistance and without pitching a hissy fit. All of which I have been able to do easily while I have had this virus. My immune system has something real to attack rather than my joints. |

And I durned well intend for 74 to be similar.....can't promise on 84, but I have a role model. I drove almost 3000 miles a few years ago with a man who was 88, and lived to 100! At 90 he went on a trip to Peru and did the 'canopy walk' through the jungle trees. I can still put on my underwear balancing on one leg, so I'm ok in that area... (yes..of course I change legs between sides!) |
