From: M.Ted I haven't seen her in quite a long time-- at the long defunct Valley Forge Music Fair--but it was one of the best shows I've ever seen--as I remember, in that particular year, I saw concerts by Clapton, David Bowie, and her, and she was by far the best, but maybe that's just me-- |

From: IvanB The last two times I saw her (the one mentioned above and one about 15 years ago) she sang a mix of her old "folk renaissance" numbers as well as some newer material. Of the newer stuff, several were "protest" songs referring to then current happenings. Wish my wife and I could go with you, Mrrzy, but we're a bit far away for it. |

Ditto Dirk Powell whose musical skills /diversity is almost scary he is so good. They played here in Jacksonville Oregon last summer and I cannot recall a better concert. Sure would like to know how she and Dirk discovered each other. I didn't even know he was playing until I saw his name on the billboard and wondered, "Wait. Can it be THAT Dirk Powell? When I saw her maybe 20 years ago, she started to pontificate about something by saying, "In my humble opinion....." Then she stopped and said, "Who am I kidding? I've never had a humble opinion in my life!" Her singing may not have been quite as good as it was when she was 20, but she was still a darn good singer - and she had a delightful, intimate relationship with the audience. Indigo Girls and Mary Chapin Carpenter are also good, but Joan Baez was absolutely delightful when I saw her. -Joe- |
